Forums - Gaming - I want to play Chrono Trigger again, 18 years later. Which version should I play?

Either DS or Android. I hear they're the same, and the DS version has significantly improved dialogue.

I'm pretty sure Snes version is the best one

Hey don't click here ! It's creepy !!

I want a PlayStation All-Stars Sequel ! Come on Sony, stop making too many shooters !

I'll make a better signature when I'll have time to do it...

The DS version is considered to be the definitive version by a lot of people and I own it and I would its easily the best for the amount of money it costs now.

original is always better even if it sucks.

You no like Chrono Trigger????

NO! I meant he should play it on the console the game was released for even if that version sucks compared to a new version.

Oh OK. The original sucking in comparison doesn't at all apply here so I was confused. :)

The SNES. On a CRT TV. The purest and best way to play one of the best RPG's, nay, games ever made.

Inception is everywhere

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

im surprised no one's even attempted a remake or sequel. would easily sell millions...

If you have a PS3, I would sugest the digital version of the Psone game, no loading times on PS3.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

The DS version is the best.
It has the cutscenes that were introduced in the Playstation version, however with less loading time throughout the game.
It also has a new area therefore a new optional ending.
Improved dialog.

So yeah, get the DS version and play it on either the DSi XL or 3DS XL (and if you wait long enough the New 3DS XL).
That will offer the best experience due to the bigger screens.

I would suggest either the DS or the Wii Virtual Console versions (or the original SNES version of course). Like InnocentSin already said, the Square SNES game ports on PS1 had really irritating load times compared to the original games.

FF5, FF6, and Chrono Trigger had long loading times, FF4 didn't.  FF4 loaded faster than the SNES version.

That's strange, I wonder what made FFIV different in that case.

Well FFIV had long saving times.
