Forums - Gaming Discussion - Highest Rated Handheld Games of All Time! Only 16 Games over a 90! Highest are 93! Come See...

Make one for remakes Tbone! Like specifically any sort of later port of the game that added something. So not just late ports due to temporary exclusivity, and not collections like Orange Box, LoZ: Collector's Edition, or GTA Double Pack, but things like LoZ:ALTTP, LoU:Remastered, LoZ:OOT3D, the Super Mario Advance games, Persona 4 Golden, etc. You may as well combine the home and portable games for the list.

Does Metacritic even track anything before GBA lol?

Nope! No NES, SNES, Game Boy, or anything Sega outside of Dreamcast. Check the "legacy platform" section to see what they track.

Thanks for the information bro :d!

No Link's Awakening or Pokemon make me sad

The Fact that amazing games like Patapon, KH Birth By Sleep, and Zero Escape somehow did not make it over 90 is total blasphemy. Those games are FLAWLESS!!!!

Wait, how are no Pokemon games over 90 on metacritic? That makes no sense to me. I also feel like Sonic Advance deserves to be on this list, but it has an 87 meta. Stupid critics don't know what's good I guess.

Edit: So it turns out that metacritic doesn't track older systems such as Game Boy and Game Boy Color. Pokemon Silver got over 90% on GameRankings, another review aggregate website. Here are the Game Boy Color games that got over 90%:

1. Metal Gear Solid 95.61%
2. Super Mario Bros. Deluxe 92.63%
3. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages 92.20%
4. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons 91.37%
5. Pokemon Silver Version 91.35%
6. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX 91.21%
7. Mario Tennis 90.78%
8. Donkey Kong Country 90.38%
9. Pokemon Puzzle Challenge 90.20%
10. Wario Land 3 90.00%

oooohhhhh Nice Finds^ That metal Gear :0

Nintendo has always ruled the handheld game console market, since 1989. They've had many challengers, all have failed, with the PSP coming the closest to having real, long-term success. The Game Gear was a bright blip on the radar, but only that, as it didn't last all that long. Everything else was over quick.

I do wish they'd bring back the "Game Boy" name for their next, unless it really is going to be a so-called "hybrid" system.

I was about to say the same thing since Metacritic doesn't track anything from Nintendo's Gameboy and GBC. You know what's really weird though, when i looked through Pokemon Red and Blue's scores on Gamerankings i found this....

Nintendo Power 10/01/98 Review 7.2 out of 10

Nintendo's own gaming magazine too! Don't get me wrong a 7.2 wasn't that bad back in those days but when you got other magazines and sites giving them 9s and 10s your own magazine gives them a 7.2!

Wait.....

everybody here hates Super Circuit besides me? I love that game. Still have the cartridge actually.

Heck, that Rainbow Road is better than the Raibow Road in 63.

Super Circuit is worse than the original despite having every single track in it?

Welp, time to cry.

Will we see an 90+ original games next year for HH? No MM doesn't count!

Where are Persona 4 golden? And Velocity 2x?
