Forums - Nintendo - Bayonetta 2 sales NPD

I was right when I said Bayonetta 2 is one of the biggest flops in recent memory. I said that about its sales in Japan, but now I say that about its worldwide performance. I know this figure doesn't include digital, but are people seriously expecting high digital sales on the Wii U? Even if it sold twice as much it would still be a huge bomb.

This makes me really sad though... it's a wonderful franchise. :(

And yes, needless to say... DriveClub is a nuclear bomb. It seems to be doing a tad better in Europe though.

For a Wii U mature exclusive of a sequel of a game that didn't hit their previous console, and which wasn't exactly lighting up the charts anyway so much that the publisher didn't even want to go through with the sequel, its okay.

I was honestly expecting a lot worse. But I guess you can consider it 'bad' if you ignore all those things. How is it tracking digitally anyway?

Predictable.

I think unfortunately the Wii U audience is only interested in the bigger Nintendo IP.

Even things like DKC: Tropical Freeze and Pikmin 3 haven't sold great.

If it's not a Mario or Zelda game, it's in tough.

sad but true.

The few of us who care about other games are just not enough to impact sales. Perhaps if the Wii U had 20million units sold there may be some more diversity of gamers who would buy.

So 60k US, 37k Japan and 40k Europe first week?

That´s weird... according to Vg Chartz, it sold 180k in America, 320 k worldwide, until November, 1st.
Not good, could be better...... should be better.

would 70k be about digital sales? If so, I´d say that it´s good, considering that this game is huge

VGChartz has it overtracked by a lot.

Atleast that would be my guess.

yeah... we always see this "overtrack/undertrack" talk in VGChartz.Sometimes sales information is so vague that It seems that all data regarding the videogame market is based on guesswork.

We only will be sure of Bayonetta 2 numbers when Nintendo launch its next financial report.

It´s just a shame that so many people are missing this excellent game

That seems incredibly off from VGC numbers.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I think the good sales for Hyrule gave a false impression of what Bayo was capable off. When you look at how niche it is, and what the PS360 versions did, 70k seems far more realistic.

My GF is getting it for me for Christmas so I don't have it yet T_T

I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. It's definitely worthy of the high scores it has received BUT it also looks like it didn't cost very much to make. It may or may not ever get the sales I think it deserves but I'm hopeful that it is at least profitable.
