Forums - Sales - Global Hardware 8th of November 2014

Not sure I buy the US numbers for either PS4 or Xb one. PS4 should have got at least a 100% boost from a 1.2 million CoD start. And Xb one I reckon would be 250K or less. 2:1 seems like too much despite what Amazon might have suggested.

So IMO for USA its ~170K for PS4.

Going by the hardware tools graph it looks like Xb one is at about 415K and PS4 about 435K. For some reason it doesn't bring up the numbers list when I hover my mouse over the date.

I'm somewhat surprised at the boost Xb one got from Europe to take it from 286K in the USA to over 400K globally.

Well, that Major Nelson fella tweeted that sales 'More than tripled in the US' apparently, so a 214% increase would more or less line up with that.

Obviously can't speak for the other regions, as I don't think he did. x3

Anyway, on the OP, congrats to the Xbox! =D Considering Black Friday is coming, I hope Sony sees this and decides 'We Needs A Hooooge Bunduru,' because I still want to buy one, and the more snazzy goodies that comes with it, the happier a clam I shall be! :3 ....on that note, please bring the bundles to Canada as well, plskthx.

Huge week in the US for XBO. It's a bit surprising that the PS4 still got top spot WW and everything else did decent to garbage.

I wonder when adjustments will kick in though.

As expected XOne wins NA but this weeks numbers include CoD, AC + SO bundles? There's the MCC next week which I see helping keep the XOne flat for next week instead of a sizable drop. Although the PS Quadrizzle took the XOne's best week in terms of deals like an and - one lol.

Wow, X1 was so close. I'm more impressed with PS4's numbers though. Every week it gets bigger.

Why would a 66% bump (61% in USA) with CoD selling almost as much in USA on PS4 as Xb one, and expected seasonal weekly lift be impressive? I think that's a typical or maybe slightly small bump for PS4 considering those 2 factors.

If anything I think the US number for PS4 is low by 30K or so.

I see MS has said more than tripled so Xb one number, relative to VGC's previous week looks to be right.

BUT!!! I just noticed in Mehdi's PR anouncement he's claiming Xb one has been the lead console in the USA for 2 weeks running. Given this week isn't over yet does that mean week ending 1 Nov? Personally I don't know how he has the data to support the claim relating to 1 Nov week. Seems like he might have been counting the AC and CoD skus on sites like Amazon, which record as sales for the week but didn't actually ship to consumers until the 8 Nov week. I think I'll believe what Amazon's actual available skus (shows PS4 on top) and VGC tell us for 1 Nov week. Unless he means this week so far, which I agree, Xb one will probably be top console this week in the USA.

Decent X1 sales, but I think it's all downhill from here in terms of ratio vs PS4.

This just shows how important the US market is.

PS4 should have been further ahead IMO, considering it's been the preferred platform for COD this generation, the install base for that game is bigger on Playstation this generation than XB1.
I wouldn't be shocked if PS4 is under-tracked by almost 200k for the week of the 8th of November.
Assuming VG doesn't make any adjustments this puts PS4 at 13M total, when it should probably be over 14M, I think PS4 is easily under-tracked by more than a million on here.

The sales surge after price cut announcement started late October. The day MS announced the price cuts Amazon and BestBuy applied them; way before November 2.

SO bundle sold out everywhere before the official price cut date if I remember correctly. But it was being sold at $349.

New bundles and price cut will do that. Holiday deals should keep give it healthy sales. What I'm worried about is the drop off after the holidays when they bring the price back up.

Nice attempt Xbox One! at least it smashed the US sales 2:1 this week, well deserved after the effort put into it, but quite surprising and impressive that the PS4 still took it for WW figures.
EU is fast becoming the market to play for.

By rights, XBO should also edge out the PS4 in the US next week too, on the back of bundles/cod/SO/MCC, but i suspect the aggressive sales tactics on all platforms will even out the playing field and give the remaining weeks of US/WW to PS4.
