Wait a min... can someone help clear this up for me.

  • VGC tracking has the PS4 at 12.6M sold as of the end of October. That means according to VGC there are currently at least 2M PS4s ON SHELVES
  • Where as every other console has no more than 1.5M consoles on shelves. According to VGC tracking.

Have you seen the PS4 box? It's tiny! You can easily fit more of them on the shelf. Also it's quite a thin box so it can be placed on the smallest shelves and between other stuff easily.

Hope this clears things up a bit.

it's the same reason ps4 is selling 2:1 xbox.  i went to the store and ordered 2,000 In^3 of ps4 and didn't realise i bought 2 systems until i got home.

Yeah, that was quite a surprise when I unpacked my double PS4 as well. So generous of Sony to give you two consoles for the box of one.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

When Sony announce sold through numbers to CONSUMERS next, vgchartz still won't adjust accordingly just like last time. SOLD THROUGH means sold through, not shipped to retailers. 2 week's in a row we get downward adjustments? Seriously?

  • As at the end of september 2014, sony had shipped a total of 13.5M PS4s worldwide.
  • So sony is (which coincides with some rumors earlier this year) has been shipping around 1.1M consoles per month.
  • So its safe to say that at the end of October, a total of around 14.6M PS4s had been shipped at least. Cause typically everyone starts ramping production and shipping up in october to meet the increased demand of the holiday season. But lets assume none of that happenned and sony still shipped only 1.1M average.
  • VGC tracking has the PS4 at 12.6M sold as of the end of October. That means according to VGC there are currently at least 2M PS4s ON SHELVES
  • Where as every other console has no more than 1.5M consoles on shelves. According to VGC tracking.
  • So basically, the best selling console for the past 12 months is seemingly having the hardest time selling its shipped hardware
Please, and this is a sincere question so I would like someone who knows more about this stuff to help me understand why. Is there something extremely wrong with the PS4 tracking? Like something is just very very very fundamentally wrong with how the PS4 is tracked here at VGC. That's why as of the time when sony announced they had sold 10M consoles VGC was undertracking the PS4 by as much as 1M consoles. Is it just getting worse? Cause these numbers just doesn't make sense at all. I can even come up with a possible scenario by which these numbers make sense.

ioi already said Sony numbers are suspicious because he can't find an algorithms that show where these sales are.

You know estimates >>> products sales

I prefer to be called fanboy because I like it.

Was Wii U adjusted up?

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

I'm on phone right now and I can't find his post two months ago but my view (somebody that is not native English) yeap he meant something to this side.

Nope. He aknowleges that sony could very well have sold what they said they have. But he is not changing his estimates cause he does not know where sony is selling the extra consoles. He believe that whatever model he uses to get his estimate is so sound tht it makes sense having his estimates track lower than an officially announced sold to consumers milestone.

Make of all that as you will.

That is a way different tone from what he said in my opinion.
