So 47 was Professor Layton and the Curious Village.
For #46: What's the next best thing since sliced bread? This modern version of a Nintendo classic

Well, there are no bad answers...
Hint for my 46:
It's the latest entry in the (arguably) largest franchise ever. It was also the first one I played, and although I didn't like it too much at first, it has really grown on me over time.
#47 - Final Fantasy Tactics
I bought this title because of the Final Fantasy name attached to it not really knowing what the game would be like. I ended up very pleasantly surprised at my first ever SRPG. Set in the world of Ivalice (first of many Square games in that world) the story Ramza as he gets screwed up bad by his "friend" Delita (that's about what I remember of the plot). This is a very challenging game, featuring tons of jobs for your regular characters and a great cast of unique characters which rare from useless (Malak) to godly (Orlandu).

I'll give you another hint (this will make it quite obvious though): It launched with a really really really messy online.
Number 46: It's a funny story about a future lawbreaker doing mischief on the local education center and on the small town he resides, which can be explored with many limitations. It has some good side activities that compliment with the whole game. A former (in)famous activist tried to predict that this game was going to be a "killing simulator". Ultimately, it wasn't, and the activist was unceremoniously barred from his day job. I'll give this hint for free: in the PAL regions, the game is named in a defunct language.

But since you said largest franchise ever.... Call of Duty: Ghosts?
