Umm... just random guessing here, NFS Carbon?

Good guess, but no. It's not part of a racing franchise that most people have heard of, so no NFS, Burnout, Forza, Gran Turismo, F1, or Mario Kart.

Hint for #48:

This fourth-gen game was a commerical success despite coming out two months after the release of a brand new fifth-gen system. After this game launched, the series it belongs to remained dormant until its return in 2010.

Um, I don't know if by "brand new" 5th gen system you mean it doesn't have a predecessor (implying it would be the PS), and I don't know if this counts as a "dormant series", but... Donkey Kong Country 3?

For someone who doesn't know, you sure know a lot!

DKC 3 it is!

I'll fill in #48 either later today or if someone guesses it. Whichever comes first. Until then...

#47: Only game on this sub-franchise to be on the Wii Virtual Console, known primarily as the game that ends friendships. Finally, only one in the series to have costumes.

Might as well join in the fun.

#47 - This was one of my favorite Nintendo characters first adventure onto home consoles.

Kirby's Adventure?

Launch game that went a completely different direction from first reveal

Not sure i talked about my 49: Pokemon Black and White. What i really liked about this game was the second elite four (and a second elite four that wasn't as maddening as HG/SS), leading to one of the most satisfying post-games i've encountered since Gold and Silver, as well as a very solid main game, tweaking leveling and mechanics a bit in a satisfying way.

Number 48: Super Mario Bros 2. This game launched the 6th generation for me, being the first Game Boy Advance game before even the GameCube ran around. It was and remains a different kind of Mario game, with larger areas and many hidden secrets (such as the subspace areas), and high replayability due to the use of Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach, all being something more than a palate swap.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Correct. Started as Killer Freaks from Outer Space

It is amazing to see the difference from E3 2011 (Killer Freaks) to E3 2012 (ZombiU).

And even more amazing to think of everyone agreeing that Ubisoft "won" E3 in 2012, and where we are today...
