We're almost there, people!

Hint for #15:

This relatively old game features one of the most original anti-piracy methods ever conceived, but its nature also screwed up with people who'd only rent or borrow the disc alone.

Prince of Persia? The 1980s one. It's gotta be one of those games that came with these code-table-sheets of paper .

Ehmmm...I remember that when you played an illegal copy of MediEvil it would ask for you to insert the correct disc after the first level, but you didn't have to do anything when you actually played a legal copy. So that's probably not it .

I don't think I know this one .

HINT 2:

Think outside the box.

#15 - Ufouria: The Saga. One of the best NES games ever made. Try it out on the Wii VC if you have any love for the NES

#14 - A launch title that probably is on most peoples top 10 list of games on that console

Think outside the box.

PlayStation game... Think outside the box... With 'outside' and 'box' in italics... You mean like, 'outside' the game?  Transending the 4th barrier so to speak? The only series I can think of from what I heard of that does these sort of things like having to reset the console, knowing what's on your memory card and whatever, is; Metal Gear Solid.

Though I never played it so again I'm not sure. Even though my PS1 collection is my third biggest it's still grossly incomplete .

Well, you're correct. :)

After the first boss, you'll have a long cutscene on which you ask for a codec password.  However, your source doesn't remember it, but he eagerly says that you should check the back of the game box and the codec can be found written there. Indeed, there's a codec number there:

That's the only real way of getting the codec number. There's just no other way around; you either have the box or you won't progress.

Which actually screwed a lot of PSN players who downloaded the game but Konami forgot to give them the codec number (which was later added on a free digital manual), but fortunately they were on the age of Internet. You can't say the same back when this game released :P
