I think it will be financially rewarding for Nintendo but will not reach beyond their initial core audience like some are hoping. It will not alter the Wii U's situation at all.

I think there's no way for Amiibo to bomb. It won't turn around the Wii U, that's for sure, but if Skylanders was a success, no way in hell Amiibo fails.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Skylanders and Amiibo are very different. The initial sky landers was designed for kids under the age of 12, smash is not that casual a game, nor are the characters all that befitting to a 10 years olds imagination of cool (monsters or their favourite characters- disney infinity). The toys also play a far more essential role in Skylanders whereby they unlock characters (essentially DLC). Amiibo are far more trivial, only being used for some strange metagame that most people probably won't even play.
