I play on an EU accoumt. But I set up a US account on my PS4 to buy games from the US as it saves me $30 per game. I've pre ordered GTA 5 and understand the pre order bonus won't work on my EU account. But my question is will future DLC? Like heists for example. If that doesn't get added in the form of an in game patch does it mean the only way I'll be able to play the DLC (which i'll have to by from the US store) is by playing it on my US account? 

I know they said it's region locked but I'm confused do they mean DLC I buy from the EU store won't work on the US download or do they mean that DLC even if bought off the US store won't work with the US download if I play it on my EU account. 

Any help much appreciated! 

I do the same thing. Couple of things you need to know;

DLC is region locked, so if your game was purchased on US account, DLC needs to be too.

You can play the MP part of a game, purchased on your US account, on your home account as long as 1 of those 2 accounts has PS+. So no need to stay logged in US account after the purchase was made. Same is correct for DLC

It's not illegal to be buying games this way, i've contacted Sony US multiple times now, they just don't recommend it and let you know you can't complain if something doesn't work as you're planning.

Aside from all that i love this ability and have been doing it much more since the PS4 has arrived as games are much more expensive if i buy them here. It has also made me go digital somewhat lol. GTA5 for example is 70 euros here and 60 dollars in US. 60 dollars means 46 euros deducted from my Credit card which is almost cheap!

yeah i use euros in my country and home store too so it's a massive saving and basically means i will by more games from the store. So win win for me and Sony. 

Thank you for the reply as you pretty much answered all my concerns. Delighted that the DLC will work on the EU account! It's just a pity the pre order bonus is region locked but whatever the savings i make is more than worth it. 

Oh I pre ordered GTA 5, Far Cry 4 and the Order when i set the account up a while back and the other day got a message daying i'd been given 15$ free credit! Just a pity I didn't pre order BF: Hardline as well because I think i'd have gotten another 15$ free if i spent over 200! 

lol well you're in luck then as there was a promotion saying if you spent 100 dollars or more on PSN, doesn't matter on what, you'd get 15 back. Which is why i bought The Evil Within and GTA5 and i got my credit yesterday!!

Can I do this effectively from Australia?

So set up a US account (I have PS+ on my Australian account), buy all my games and their DLC from the US, can I then play them all on my Aussie account?

You can do it from anywhere.

The only "problem" is that you need to load your wallet using prepaid US$ codes, because if you live in Australia PSN will not accept your credit card or PayPal because it is not a US card.

What I did is register on Amazon.com using a US address, and buy my codes from them, they don't charge commission.

You can just google any hotel and use their information, or alternatively open a free account on viabox.com and they give you a "real" US shipping address. Same goes for that PSN account, just use any US address for it. I use Delaware for both, as that state has no sales tax... (I google "Dover Delaware hotels" and help myself with the results).

On my US PSN my address is New York. Does that mean games cost me more than other states due to tax?

Getting money on the account is triky. The way I do it is I get a friend in the US to buy them and give me the codes and pay them back via paypal. 

There are sites online that give you the code if you buy from them and they're 100% trust worthy. 

Another way is to buy an amazon gift card and load it onto your account. Then buy the PSN card using it. 

I don't know that exactly. I just know that Amazon is forced to charge state sales tax according to the state registered.... For PSN cash cards there is no tax, but if you attempt to buy a digital game code, you will get charged a sales tax on top of $59.99 depending in which state you are registered.

As I always use Delaware, I have no experience with PSN charging tax for other states, maybe someone can help here.... I use it as a precaution in case the government forces them to do the same as Amazon...

PSN doesn't care, you can even make up an e-mail address. My main concern is Amazon, which sometimes gets very picky with billing information. Some cards cannot pass, some addresses get checked.

I once got a mail asking me to fax them a copy of my ID to verify the address. So I just made a new account, used a different card and have no problems now.

I just find it easier to use the same info on PSN as well, helps with keeping all my ducks in a row.
