Simple. Optimization. And this is something that I have been saying. Any game that has the lead platform being the XB1 will suffer hampered performance on the PS4> Cause if the devs do what I would do in a situation like that, they would just focus all their efforts on getting the XB1 version where they need it to be knowing that with minimal work and effort they could have the game running on the PS4 either equally or better better but less consistent. This should be expected going forward unless the PS4 can aquire a lead so vast that by default it becomes the lead platform for all multiplats. |
About the "less consistent" aspect of your comment, keep in mind that when the PS4 version drops (drops in the 50s mostly) the XB1 version has a 40% lower resolution AS WELL as screen tearing... screen tearing is what happens when you disable v-sync and you drop frames, instead of having to wait until the next frame is fully rendered the machine just display what it can after 16ms then it starts working on the next image... this is really disturbing, if it happens often it's worse than tripple buffered ~50fps incidental drops.
In short: drops to ~50fps (even in the 40s) even regular or long stretches at around 50 are completely tolerable.
Now, incidental screen tearing is no big deal either.
But arguing that now the XB1 has parity is non sense.
as for tuture lead platform rold for the XB1, just look at the main page of this site, under the consoles sales graph select "year to date" you will see that chances are that new multi-platform projects are started with a heavy focus on the PS4, because it sells A LOT faster than any other console, ever... and well over twice as fast as the XB1 si far this year.
