Forums - Microsoft - Is PC gaming important to Microsoft?

Well, of course. Windows is THE platform for PC gaming and the fact that they are responsible for DirectX which is still under active development shows how important it is for MS. But when speaking about certain games I guess not that much.

Wait until next year to judge, when you will see Microsoft re-launch its approach to PC gaming.

Do you say that based on something or it's just an intuition?

They had that job listing for a AAA strategy title a while back, so hopefully a new non F2P AoE game. Wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be more F2P garbage like AoE Online tho.

excellent timing.

Good to know, but until those plans are unveiled I'll keep the expectations low. It's not the first time that Microsoft has promised more support to PC gaming, and this could become another "Games For Windows Live" thing.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

They only care about PC when the Xbox is doing bad. True story.

They say that every year.

The last AAA game they released was Fable Anniversary, a remake.
Prior to that they hired another studio to do Age of Empires 2 HD edition, another remake.

We also got Halo: Spartan Assault, a tablet game.

All I wan't Microsoft to give me on the PC is a Black and White 3 from Lionhead, Age of Empires 4 from Robot Entertainment (Made up from the guys that were at Ensemble) and a Freelancer 2 that competes with StarCitizen and I will be happy, but doubt any of that will happen. :(

I don't think it is actually, not any more. But with Valve creating a gaming OS and all, maybe that'll trigger a response from MS; after all, thats kinda what made them develop the xbox in the first place, as a response to PS and its domination in consoles

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

You forgot the proper Mechwarrior and Mechcommander games.

I think it is important to them, indirectly at least. I have no doubt they want to keep windows easily accessible for gaming but beyond that it's probably not a driving concern.

No I didn't.

I was just pretending the franchise never existed to prevent myself being even more dissapointed.

Kill it with a fire.

To answer OP, nope. They've given up on that long ago.
