And I asked for any previous case where the price cut took effect after 6 weeks when outlets promoted them on paper. I believe there are none since most of what we saw where pricecuts announced in advance.

How long did it take for the X1 to start leading the NPD after the initial pricecut? Use that as a barometer.

That is my point... but it was heavily advertised, unlike this new promotion so we can't put like to like.

I don't understand Landguy's logic. Why would you purposely not advertise your own console's price cut until weeks after it is implemented? That is just very unbusiness-like and we all know Microsoft in not the kind of company to do that.

There is no reasoning. He's just looking for excuses because Amazon has proven once again that the XB1 is going to lose January.

The PS5 Exists.

In any case, do you remember? It started leading weekly NPDs in November, right? When did that cut go into effect?

Imho i think the reason why the second deal isn't having the same effect as the first is that people realized this is not "temporary" anymore.Back in november(end of october actually),when MS first announced the deal, people went nuts cause not only it was a good deal, but also it was TEMPORARY.They had a limited time to buy Xbox for that price.Plus,it was black friday/holiday season and people love deals that time of the year.

Now we are in february and MS still have the same "temporary" deal.Which means it isn't as temporary as they said.People know they don't need to hurry for this deal and if they wait, maybe this push MS to make a even better deal.

That's my whole point.  M$ had no intention of keeping the price cut.  They only reinstated it when the sales went to shit.

So, they dropped the price with no plan in place to make it effective.  Isn't that obvious to everyone now?  We can't look at the current price drop and think that its not working.  It's just not working yet.

I don't think that it will double the XB1 sales, I think that it will keep the XB1 in the game.  Only when it properly implemented.

It is near the end of the end....

Yep I do remember, and for me that basically pushed x1 ahead of its sales curve and now they are bellow it to end up with the same sales it would end up with.

Then, tell me lol! With all the deals and price changes, I can't remember what cut went into effect that preceded their wins. As I'm sure you also remember, it went from $400 to $350 to $330 to $300. I think we can hardly overlook the difference betwwen the second and the last two, but the timing of each is lost to me.

You don't tell me. What about target 330 bundle with 50 gift card. those intense Holiday promos probably antecipated like 9 months of good sales making them quite smaller.

That's right; it got all the way down to $270. I know there are many claiming that the second drop has yet to be effectively advertised and take effect, but $270 is $80 cheaper than $350! That's approximately 23% cheaper than what it costs right now. What if this cut is 23% less effective? Why shouldn't we expect that? The X1/PS4 holiday gap wasn't even 23%...
