Isn't that also the point where he disappears until the next X1 price cut?

lol this has all happened before already (the dismissal of NPD when it doesn't give better numbers vs. VGC). Even funnier, after VGC corrected, the backtracking bent the space time continuuum so completely that it snapped.

And be carefull not to let the thread goes unposted for 30 days because necrobumps are now moddable.

TheDrill said: For all the doubters, X1 soutsold the PS4 even after the price cut expired. Another great victory for the X1! |
The X1 was actually ranked behind the PS4 in serveral retailers when the price went up to $399. Even though MS brought the price back down to $349, the X1 is still being outsold by the PS4. In this context, VGC's predictions are inaccurate especially when it overtracked the X1 last January by 100K.
Gamestop: PS4 is #9 while X1 is #23 (http://www.gamestop.com/browse?nav=2b12,28-xu0,134f )
Walmart: TLOU bundle is #1 and standalone SKU is #6 while AC bundle is #4 and MCC bundle is #7 (http://www.walmart.com/browse/video-games/2636?cat_id=2636&facet=video_game_platform:PlayStation%204%7C%7Cvideo_game_platform:Xbox%20One )
Best Buy: TLOU bundle is #4 and standalone SKU is #14 while X1 is #5 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpage.jsp?nrp=15&cp=1&seeAll=&browsedCategory=abcat0700000&qp=&ks=960&sp=-bestsellingsort%20skuidsaas&sc=Global&list=y&usc=All%20Categories&type=page&id=pcat17071&iht=n&st=categoryid%24abcat0700000&lid=Products:%20All%20New%20Releases )
Amazon: PS4 is #9 while X1 is #19 on the monthly bestsellers list (http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/2015-01/videogames/ref=zg_bsar_videogames_pg_3?ie=UTF8&pg=3#1 )
Amazon, thus far, has correctly predicted the winner of the month each time. Considering that the PS4 is ahead of the X1 on Amazon and is outselling it in three four other major retailers, it is very likely the PS4 will win January.
EDIT: The PS4 is also leading in Toys R' Us (http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?s=A-UnitRank&size=24&fd=Sony+Computer+Entertainment&fd=Microsoft&origkw=consoles&ff=PAD&ff=PAD&fv=Brand+Name+Secondary%2FSony+Computer+Entertainment&fv=Brand+Name+Secondary%2FMicrosoft&fg=Brand&fg=Brand&keywords=consoles&kw=consoles&page=1 )

Those aren't sales numbers, they are VGC predictions. They'll be fixed to put PS4 ahead after NPD. |
There is no objective reason to consider that NPD numbers are more accurate than VGC ones.

Well... given we know the number of retailers that NPD partners with to receive sales information in their global network, I suppose the only way to really insistent that VGChartz is just as accurate is if they have access to just as much information, which would only be achieved by making utually beneficial deals with each individual retailer for their sales data. In the case of NPD, last count was 1200 retailers, covering 165,000 stores. (keeping in mind of course that this applies to the global network, not simply their US and video game efforts.) Anyone know how many retailers and storefronts this site uses for hard data?

You know... I remember giving you a link on your locked thread where it explains how NPD tracks sales. Apparently, you never read it so I suggest that you actually do. Here's the link again: https://www.adobe.com/macromedia/ir/macr/whitepapers/npd_pos.pdf
I should also note that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo use NPD, GFK, and Media Create, not VGC, for sales estimates. In that context, there is objective reason to think that NPD numbers are more credible.

Actually is not a matter of which is more accurate. It's just that VGC estimates aren't accurate at all, if VGC metodology had any basis on reality they wouldn't need to adjust after reports from actual trackers like NPD, GFK, Media Create, etc.
