Forums - Microsoft - Sunset Overdrive Video Review : An Unbiased Review

This is really the only thread I've seen with impressions of the game. As I play more, I'll keep coming back and posting what I think. I'm not blown away by the game but it definitely feels "next gen" and the reviews make me optimistic about what's to come. It just had to hold my interest until I get to the good stuff! Even inFamous on PS4 couldn't do this....

Def give your impressions in here.  Not everybody will have the same opinion so i welcome your impressions as well.  For me i started having fun pretty much immediately but when the game offers more variaty in enemies as time goes on, with more variaty in weapons it does pregressively get more fun.  Personally i found the game pretty funny as well.

Im not a big InFamous fan myself but i liked Sunset Overdrive a lot.  Id say SO is a mix of Jet Set Radio + Ratchet & Clank + InFamous/Crackdown

First few hours were very meh to me. Far too many fetch quests.

OT: Great review Jay! Really want a sequel!! My personal GOTY so far!

I didnt really think it had too many fetch quests to be honest.  I know you said you wanted a different currency system though.

Thanks!  And agreed.  This and Alien: Isolation are both up there for me.  More games to come this month though so that could still change for me

Not different, but more balanced. Overcharge was used for weapons and map collectibles (2,500 to 5,000, to 7,500, to 10,000). So I couldn't use all the weapons I'd want until after I beat the game. I think they could have had the map stuff be bought through money, but that's my opinion :)

GOTY

Either there was an update or music doesn't play very often without an internet connection. Anyway, this game is fantastic. I love it.

I don't know what it was.  My internet wasn't working over the weekend.  The gameplay seemed overly complicated.  The jokes were falling flat and that black guy's voice acting was pissing me off!  And then the music wouldn't play like 90% of the time.  Just some surfer song would pop in for 10 seconds and then the game would go silent again.  Got my internet back yesterday and fired up the game last night.  Couldn't stop playing.  Hell, I was just running around doing random stuff and not even following the story.  I got the same feeling I got playing Saints Row 2 way back in the day.  Tons of fun.  The jokes are hitting.  The characters are interesting.  And now the online modes, Sunset TV, Leaderboards, music, etc. are back (as soon as I fired it up, it updated the console and the game).  It's all good now.  I love it.
