Why do I think this?

Well, GamerGate already got parts of Reddit, parts of 4chan, 8chan, parts of tumblr and Twitter working together in an unlikely confluence of events, and I don't see console wars (anymore) in 8chan /v/, which is a weird, weird thing to see. I could be wrong, though. (That said, it's impressive how many newfags* there are in /gg/. They don't lurk anymore, huh?)

it wont, neither side is going to win, theyre just going to eventually stop being newsworthy and the moment the media isnt seeing enough revenue from covering it, and stops doing so, it will fade in to obscurity like every other industry scandal.

If anything, the stupidity around the whole thing is casting a negative stigma around the gaming community. Shit being produced by the idiots of the gaming community casts its stink on all of us. It needs to go away.

The best case scenario is that it at least scares away some parents from buying the next AAA FPS for their hyperactive sub-13 son.

You know what Anita and co should go do? she should kick up stink about the treatment of islamic woman, was reading a story recently where a woman was tried and hung for stabbing a man who was raping her, she was found guilty of pre meditated murder. If she hadn't stabbed the guy and killed him she would have been tried for adultery and stoned to death.... That is a place where Anita and her friends should go make a difference, because it's bloody needed there, not that princess peach is being kidnapped in another game or that there isn't a Princess charming rescueing a Dame in distress in a movie...

She only did some unprofessional but harmless videos that should have been ignored.

And the whole idea that there's a big feminist conspiracy in video game journalism is just stupid...

I am hoping for an ending of this on the VGA's. I dont doubt that Keighley will try to dip on this for ratings. If Bayonetta 2 gets a nomination and a huge majority vote as game of the year, i would say this would be a decisive victory for gamers.

Lol this thing is already fading into the background. The purported purpose of gamergate: corruption in the gaming media1, is trivial bullshit. Boo hoo the gaming press and the game makers are a little too cosy. Who gives a crap? This isn't Boko Haram, this isn't ISIL, this isn't child abuse, or Israel/Palestine, or the rainforests, or global warming or not global warming, or corruption of police, or politicians.

The only game I've ever bought on hype and ended up hating is because of gamer hype, being the same level as review scores, not because review scores were stupidly high for a rubbish game.

If gamer gate is uniting against feminism, then they've lost their way, and they've proven they aren't really about corruption in the gaming media. And they're stupid. The more you fight feminism the more feminists can claim to be the victims. And the non-gamer public is generally willing to believe the worst about gamers.

There are plenty of gamers who think gamergate is tainted in its origins anyway, so it's definitely not a unifying influence. In fact it's just another dividing line.

Malstrom said it best.. Gamers will not be fucked with and will fight back if attacked. That's why GamerGate exists. They will not bend over for the feminists/social justice warriors the way men have already done in music, movies, TV, and other avenues of entertainment, much to the shock of their attackers. Gamers are a far different, and much stronger and more hostile breed. This is mainly because men have been driven out of these other avenues, and gaming is essentially their last basion. It's now like the Helms Deep of entertainment for men, lol..

Despite their many differences, gamers will band together to fight the bs that threatens their hobby. And I for one could not be happier.
