I agree with Gammalad, Nintendo and also Sony & Microsoft have always specified if it's sold or shipped and they would have to, investors need to know that, it's important info.

Investors need to know accurate figures. They know the exact amount of consoles they have shipped, they don't know how many are still sat on shelves so can only estimate the amount that has been sold through, estimates are unacceptable for financial reports.

Edit: Also, if you want proof that financial reports use shipped figures then look at this post... http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6789373

Okay, I get it now. Thank you for clearing that up for me

Welp I don't think Nintendo gives two sh*ts about over/undertracking. They're making money again which is all that matters.

Their operating business is not ( for the 6 month comp v last year)

this year and next are years Nintendo should be making a lot of money but it looks like they will barely make an operating profit in either year based on the info available now-  after 2015 it is going to be much more difficult based on the life cycles of both the Wii u and 3DS

they desperately need 1 or more hit products by the end of next fiscal year

Im new-ish, are hardware numbers really as way off as they've been these past few months? It's almost making me lose interest in the hardware sales aspect of this site. But people will probably start asking me why i come to a sales site if i dont care about that. That's gonna be fun

Well, 300k off isn't a bad number. It's less than 5% and that's pretty decent for estimates.

This is very true. It looks worse than it is because of the smaller overall number and the fact that it couldn't have sold as highly as VGC has it.

Ignornance of how sales work with gaming media leads to even more confusion. I find it extremely frustrating.

Hence why I almost never bother with sales threads.

Well you've come to the right site.

I dont get how people can be on a site dedicated to sales, then come to a financial report thread, be ignorant on whether its shipped or sold, and then try to state their ignorance as fact.
