Many of the people who are ok with it, didn't buy it for it's social aspects or MP aspects, they bought it for the SP, the point to point tracks etc... That is certainly not all of the people who bought it, and nobody's white washing that this should've been fixed pre-launch, I've said it myself numerous times. However, the game is far from unplayable (like, let's say, Skyrim PS3 was for most people, and yet still got 10/10, and few (if any) score adjustments were made).
Remember, not many people even cared about the PS4/XB1's social features pre-launch, there are still a chunk of gamer's out there who simply like SP games (I'm one of them). Again though, it doesn't excuse this problem, and if anything, I sincerely hope that in the DC post-mortum, Evolution is transparent about where exactly this went wrong. Full disclosure would be best, in my opinion.
That having been said, they've been pretty vocal about their progress, and everytime they release an update it comes with some kind of word from them. The only thing I'm bothered with now, is the lack of comment on the PS+ version. Granted, it makes sense to me that they'd hold off on it until they've fixed the issues (as does the idea that they could turn off the social aspects/MP aspects of the PS+ version and release it), but, that it makes sense to me, doesn't mean they shouldn't have a comment on it nearly a month after the free version was supposed to launch.

I meant it more in general. So I'm also questioning the practices of the SimCity 2013s and the Battlefield 4s and whatever else. I'm not exactly sure what features DriveClub has in full and I'll take your word for it that there's still a point to owning it now, but apparently the current issue breaks a large chunk of the game and arguably the 'main' point of it. What I'm trying to say is that I find it unbelievable that a lot of gamers apparently have no standard anymore. Companies can just bring broken products, take money and be done with it. Is it strange to expect a working product (again not singling out this game)?
But this is sublemental to my other two posts, I agree with what you wrote

From what I understand, people are largely able to connect and play MP matches, right now. What's missing is the social challenges (section challenges, which are basically limited to a certain section in a specific race), there's also an issue with the leaderboards though, I'm not sure if that's been fixed yet or not. That's my curren't understanding of what isn't working. Beyond that, the single player driving works, and the bare bones multiplayer portion works (without as I said, the section challenges). Now, you could say the game is largely working, however, one of the driving features of the game (for many) was the social aspect, so...it entirely depends on what you wanted out of DC, to say whether it's largely broken, or largely working, know what I mean?
It should not surprise you that there are many folks who simply have no standards anymore, or, who are willing to overlook their standards just to fulfill a need (surprisingly like addiction, in this regard). As I said, look at Skyrim, for folks on the PS3, it became completely unplayable, for quite awhile. But, no reviewer actually reported on that until well after the fact, nor were review scores altered (largely, can't speak for them all, because I didn't read all reviews) to reflect the issue. Many consumers appear to have dropped the demand for higher quality, imo. And it's highly concerning especially in the resolution/framerate debate. Many folks look at that as a 'graphics whoring' issue, but it's really not. It's about expecting a performance increase when the hardware increases. If we didn't, why would we have ever moved beyond Atari or Nintendo's original consoles?
This isn't to say there aren't some truly special games that make no attempts to hit the bleeding edge, this particular concern of mine merely touches upon those developers who consider themselves AAA, who are vocally trying to reach new levels of quality/technology. Now, it's perfectly reasonable to say that over time the performance of engines, and games will improve (as they always do, either for PC via GPU/Windows updates) or console via engine fine tuning and also via updates. But, the fact that the question is constantly slapped down as graphics whoring, is concerning. We should expect demand, a jump in the 'bar', every new gen.
