Do you have Vita? Is it Nintendo or Microsoft? OG Xbox was dropped because it was hemorraging money. It was not viable for MS to continue supporting a console that gamers barely adopted. PS3's early life must've had an abundance of titles ain't it? |
I had games that I wanted to play on the PS3 in the first year.I am already into Sony's and to a certain extent Nintendo's games just as I was into Sega's and had a DC.MS is the only company to know wow me with their franchises and I am not the only one who feels that way obviously. The PS3 was losing money too,but Sony did not kill it.WHat reason do I have to buy an Xbox? The only game I care for is Fable, but Zelda offers the same experience but better and games like the Witcher are on PS4.

All along this was your opinion. Carry on then.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Its not to say Microsoft hasn't tried. They have, but their new IP development isnt up to snuff when it comes to those hot button AAA titles. I mean they have Crackdown and Fable, but really...those are just fillers. Good games in their own right though. Again...they've tried but they seem to have had an issue creating a AAA title on their own that is a hot seller.

That's the stupidass "all or nothing" mentality they have that causes the lack of exclusives. Just because you can't make a super selling blockbusters means you must not try to make games for smaller audiences? They'll always sick to the boring dude bro crap like Halo, Gears and Forza...

On the one hand I kind of agree with you that there isn't a Naughty dog/Guerrilla Games/Sucker Punch store MS can go shopping at to buy great studies, but on the other hand they really haven't tried AT ALL compared to Sony.
-What about 4A games? Metro 2033 wasn't on PS3, and they are a smaller studio.
-How about Crytek? They are in tons of trouble and with some better writers they could make GREAT games.
-There are dozens of Indie studios that were once upon a time friendly with MS that they never bought up and expanded.
MS dug their own grave. They have had plenty of chances to stockpile a ton of great studios, but instead they pump out the same tired franchises and money hat.

Yep. Thats MS right down to the letter. They'll pay third party for exclusive fillers and then everything goes on repeat. The same three franchises will continue to go on repeat this gen with Forza, Fable and halo and Gears is now first party so yeah, those four. Three gens running for most of them. They do invest in smaller games but for Xbox Live arcade. I'll give them that.

Its funny that you say that, because Sony has worked closest with Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog before they took them in . If you notice Sony has an art style that they've been going for which they spearheaded after they changed around the development style of Naughty Dog after the owners left. Every single one of the companies have the art style Sony owners have become accustomed to viewing. Before buying they are generally in a trial like basis if you haven't noticed (I realized this like a year ago). Of course Sony is a known movie house since the acquisition of Columbia house pictures so the games have followed suit in it story telling style. I remember reading up on the partnership with Naughty Dog. Sony always wanted a to have games with a pixar like feel, which is why they were always so close with Naughty Dog, Insomniac and Sucker Punch. I saw a doc video some time ago about it. Very interesting stuff.
MS has bought studios before, but Sony tests out studios before they purchase them. They don't just buy people they don't trust. Again...this brings us back to the fact that Sony has made sure their games have a specific art style which represents them under their banner. MS still has yet to find one. I really wish Sony would stop trying to be like Nintendo as well and just be Sony. This is where they've always been at their best.
To further bolster this point as I said before, Sony is known for helping devs develop games from Flower, Demon Souls, to Journey. Demon Souls would've been another Kings Field without Sony Japan helping.
Also, Sony Japan, Polyphony, andSony Santamonica are a testament to Sony's internal prowess from the start. Once they worked with other companies and expanded they were a force to be reckoned with.
Not reading the whole thread, but how do you see that MS is actually the only manufacturer, that still releases exclusive titles, even it is a year older than the competition?
Forza Horizon 2
Fable Anniversary
Titanfall
Project Spark
were all released this year... that is mindblowing for a console in its 10th year.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
