Well, let's extrapolate that idea to Sunset Overdrive on PC then! :D
Seeing as its Insomniac we're talking about, never?
Spring/Summer
The reason I think it's not actually exclusive is because of what Insomniac said towards the end of their "2nd party" status for Sony. They said they wanted to OWN THEIR OWN IPs. Now we know Fuse was the first example of that and it didn't go great, but I see no reason why they won't have kept it here
I think the company was healthy enough that it didn't have to take whatever deal Microsoft was offering them without any say on the matter. So I see no reason why they wouldn't own the IP, hence be able to take it to PS4 and PC
But yeah, I like the look of the game and would probably buy it if I had an Xbox One. But I don't and this isn't enough to change that

I certainly can't see it ever coming to PS4, even if it does one day release on PC. I think the maing thing about them wanting to own the IP themselves is for it's future. They probably signed an agreement for the first game to at the very least keep it console exclusive, possibly even fully exclusive. But then any sequels will be entirely up to them what platforms to put them on. |
But why would they sign a deal that meant that their first game couldn't come out on PS4? What's in it for them?

Microsoft funding for publishing and marketing the game. There is no way they could market it as well or bundle it and what not if they were doing it by themselves. With their deal with Microsoft it gives them a much better chance of the IP actually being succesful to start with, surely missing out on one console in order to give their game the best chance of success is better than releasing multiplat and flopping on everything. Not only that, even if it does flop Microsoft would have put a lot of money into it as well so it wouldn't affect Insomniac as much as if they had done it by themselves. |
But it's not like they've burnt all their bridges with Sony. They're making a new/remade Ratchet game, to come out reasonably soon and I'm sure another publisher would give them a chance
I think they had enough leverage to be able to release it on other platforms later, especially when you look at the other Xbox One exclusives
But anyway, we're speculating on a deal that we know nothing about. It's really guesswork

LOL That was how MS won E3 in 2008. They were sneering at the camera like "Hey Sony, look we're shaking hands with Square Enix!" or "Hey Sony, We got revengeance we're shaking hands with Kojima". Don Mattrick looked like he'd finally done something right in his life just by being associated with anything Sony was close to. The meltdown was of historic proportions. Back then I was a 360 I was just eating my popcorn in my chair like Michael Jackson.

Sony screwed the pooch with Sunset Overdrive and the screwed the ppoch with Titanfall as well. They could've had Sunset exclusive to themselves if they would've just not demanded the IP and it wouldn't have even graced the Xbox One. I'm with Insomniac on this one, they've been funded by Sony for years and years now but since the great partnership have never been able to make a game for themselves since Overstrike.
