This is the right answer. More games like Golden Abyss, good, solid spinoff fare from their main franchises which helped keep PSP steady, and which basically don't happen anymore.

PSP didn't have to compete with smartphones/tablets. That makes all the difference in the world. If there was a big market for games like Golden Abyss on the Vita, Sony would make those games. And they did try with other games like Killzone, Gravity Rush, Tearaway, LittleBigPlanet, Playstation All-Stars, etc.

There just isn't an audience for this device, honestly ask yourself what demographic this product is made for. The adult/teenager who just cannot go 30 minutes outside of the house without playing a watered down version of a FPS or action game? This market audience simply doesn't exist.

Even "dudebros" gamers are fine just leaving their Calladooty at home for their 50-inch TV, if they need to burn some time on the go, their smartphone takes care of that, not only with a few cheapo games, but a dozen other things it can do that the Vita can't.

I'm not saying it wouldn't have suffered, i'm saying that it could be doing better than it is, regardless of market erosion (e.g. factors Sony can't control).

In terms of factors Sony *can* control, Vita could be doing better. PSP-esque games would certainly help in that regard.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Those goddamn Memory Cards. Sony should've just added an internal hard drive and called it day. 2 SKUs, $199 Vita with 8gb or 16gb and $299 with 32 or 64gb.

I can't believe there's still no Gran Turismo on Vita.

I guess Remote Play on GT7 is the best we'll ever get...

So you "suspect", then you're not proving anything just like I thought. The real fact here is, Sony confirmed that 49% of the games they sell on Vita are on Digital, doesn't matter if those are AAA/indie/wver, those are games, nothing to brag about. I have, digital only, quite a few AAA games: P4G, Tearaway, Uncharted, Soul Sacrifice and Dragon's Crown. My first retail game ever on Vita will be Freedom Wars besides the one that came with the bundle. So sorry to ruin your suspicion, but that is definitely not applicable here since Vita costumers do buy digital AAAs too a lot.

1)A single Vita owner's anecdotal evidence proves that Vita owners buy loads of retail games digitally. Okay.

If there's one thing I proved for sure, it's that Zackasaurus's one statement was incorrect. He claimed that over 2) 50% of Vita game sales are digital and I provided a source showing that the figure is 48%. And then you said 49%, which must be a typo.

People often use this statistic to argue that Vita game sales are greater than they appear (as Zack was doing), or that the Vita has a much greater digital:physical sales ratio than other platforms. The figure provided by Sony doesn't support either of those claims. 3)First of all, the Vita, with its access to PS Classics and PSP games, has a very large library of titles available digitally. Factor in that the system is much more popular among indie devs than it is among major retail publishers and it's obvious that the Vita should have a lot of digital software sales.

Of course Vita game sales are somewhat greater than they appear on VGChartz due to digital sales. That is the case for all games released on modern platforms. 4)But there is no evidence to suggest that the Vita has a greater digital:physical sales ratio than any other system.

As a side note, I find your claim that "Vita customers buy digital AAAs a lot" amusing, because I don't think I would categorize any Vita games as "AAA." I suppose you might consider a port of a AAA console game to also be AAA?

1) At least I'm basing myself in solid personal evidence. You are basing your theories in what else besides your dreams and hopes? I do frequent other sites of the internet where there are very happy Vita owners that are just like me, so more power to my theory.

2) didn't bother to check, but knew it was about 50%.

3)PS Classics and PSP games aren't the respective console/handheld whole libraries but selected games. And besides since there's cross-buy we are already splitting those numbers between Vita, PS3 and PSP. But I doubt that makes more than 3% maybe 5% of the PSN sales for Vita.

4) With the 48% digital plus 3,21 tie ratio for retail (numbers from VGCz), it gives somewhat above 6 games per system, above of 3ds for example. We don't have 3ds exact digital numbers to compare, but I suspect it's lower overall based on my suspiction only of course.

And I don't understand your last sentence, so I won't comment on it.

This is a joke, right? You must be joking.

You tell me why it's a joke. You start by saying only indies and PS classics/PSP games sell on Vita, AAA sales are quasi non existent on Vita without giving any statistic of that "fact", but only your suspiction. I give you my personal experience and you call it a joke.

Nintendo never shared concise 3ds digital ratio have they, and based on vgcz tie ratio is about 3,35, right above Vita. BUT Vita has those dear 48% digital and that's a huge bump. I doubt 3ds has 48% digital, must be like 15% at best? Tie-ratio wise, Vita easily wins this battle.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Diminishing market, ever-growing rise of smart phones/tablets, no Western support, proprietery memory sticks, lack of big name exclusives, marketing, image of being an expensive peripheral instead of having it's own identity, etc.

Those are the big ones to me.

I never said anything like this nor anything which could be mistakenly interpreted this way.

The joke I was referring to in my previous post is how you accuse me of making assumptions based on nothing yet now you assume that 3DS software sales are "15% at best" based on nothing. It would be funny if I didn't think you were serious.
