I'm really happy with 8 players. It's going to be very chaotic and fun.

For me 4 is more than enough... 6 max... ) (I have 4 remotes, then Upad and I plan to buy WiiU pro controller this fall at last).

That's nice to hear! Was expecting 720p in 60 fps, and I'd be completely happy with that, but this is just fantastic!

Yep.

Good.

...

And I have to say the hating here is beyond sad. It's like people feel that a Nintendo console being able to get games that come with the numbers '1080' and the letter 'p' is somehow personally offensive. Then quasi-truths are being thrown around like anyone actually knows the first thing about how this game tasks the system.

I'd even agree with the point that it doesn't graphically look all that impressive (it has a very 'functional' look, a clean look without any bullshit effects and overly complicated and convoluted textures), but the game is still locally 8-players (and don't know of any other game in existence that locally supports 8 players), 60fps with fast gameplay, packed with content and still 1080p on the least powerful console of this generation. Is it so hard to actually acknowledge that instead of going straight to the downplaying? To give it, and it's designers props?

Some people get so invested in the hate bandwagon that positive news about Nintendo ruins their fun.

Personally, I couldn't care less, I don't plan on buying it as I already have it for 3DS, but I would like to point out that it isn't just "haters", the "nintendo side" are throwing their fair share of insults too.

The issue here is, the game is not terribly complex, world environments do not have anywhere near the polycount of a standard games environment, hell they have even less of a polycount than the average MK8 track, so the power needed to run it at 1080p 60fps is significantly different, hence MK8, developed by the same company, could not achieve 1080p.

People being salty because it's 1080p is sad, but people ignoring this obvious difference in processing requirement that allowed it to reach this performance, to insult the other consoles, is equally sad.

It seems that the WiiU will never have a game with good graphics, it will either lack detail, not have enough resolution, shadows, normal maps, AA etc, at least according to some.

No one seriously thinks the WiiU can compete graphically with the XB1 or PS4 but its games should be compared with others on the WiiU and in that regard this game is, at least, notable. If people in either camp really think the comparison to XB1/PS4 is worthwhile they seriously need to adjust their expectations.

I'm not blown away by this news but I am pleased that some developers are still willing to make the compromises necessary to have a game run at the essential, in this case, 60fps and the arguably important 1080p. Not for media bragging rights but in order to ensure the best possible gameplay experience.

Undoubtedly.

That's like celebrating a PS1 classic running 1080p 60fps on the PS4! :p
