Forums - Gaming - *The PS4 is Lame but No1 Cares

PS4

-The first console to have a constantly recording option so you can record your gameplay and share it on the web
-The first controller to have a Touchpad that works as a button at the same time
-The first console with an upcoming VR headset
-The First console that will let you play other friends games on their systems through shareplay and that will transform local MP into online MP

Sony not only made a console that had unique not before seen features (on a console) but is still adding them, since Shareplay will come soon in Update 2.00 and VR headset could come next year

Yeah the PS4 is soooo LAME.... /S.

Edit: you can also play your PS4 games on a Vita or a PSTV through Remote play...

PS Vita can be used as a controller, and can do more than the Wii U gamepad can ever dream of. Oh and the PlayStation camera is an optional peripheral device.

I totally forgot about the PS Camera, is it any good?

I don't consider the Vita as a PS4 thing though. I am looking into the Xperia phone line for remote play but it hasn't come to Sprint yet

So why do you own it? Why did you choose to sell your wiiU then?

This thread can only end well. And whilst it may not be the most original console out there, that doesnt mean it's lame

You best back up & stop considering closing every thread I make

Its feature set does not ask for the same "wow" factor or curiosity for a niche but rather includes smaller but much more useful features.

- Much more improved controller, not a drastic departure but actually a good upgrade
- Hard disc integration which PS3 lacked
- Enhanced sharing and online capabilities (compared to PS3)
- Much more intuitive and functional UI (compared to PS3)
- On the fly game installs and system updates (far better than competition)
- PS Vita and second screen integration
- Limited but more accurate voice recognition and optional camera peripheral
in the near future...
- PS Now for backward compatibility
- Morpheus for virtual reality
etc..

So none of these things have the WOW factor right now, but they are actually useful features that enhance the experience without deviating from the game-focus perspective.

Depends on your perspective and it seems the perspective of the average console buyer goes in the other direction.

Think of it this way:
"A $100 more for Kinect? But I don't care about Kinect. That's lame."
"How much for a Nintendo console that's behind the other consoles in power and doesn't get the best multi-platform titles? Is it because of that tablet controller that doesn't look all that meaningful? Lame."

I would bet that those thoughts ran through the minds of many people when making console evaluations. While some might look at the PS4 as lame for not having any gimmicks/innovations, others probably don't care about those things and thus the perspective was different.

the touchpad, imo, is nothing to brag about.  we'll see about VR but i'm not very optomistic..

..but shareplay if even only half of what they advertise is going to be amazing.  best yet is actually a useful feature unlike kinect.  there are tons of games (especially indies) that have local co-op but no net-code.   shareplay brings ps4-exclusive online modes to these games which is awesome.   hell, for games like ebb and obb i wish i had shareplay despite the native online-mode because the game's online mode was sooo laggy that shareplay just has to be better.

Exactly. Lamest one. Although, this whole generation is lame and no hardware is as exciting as the last one. Sales has been proving it.

I posted a theory on this a few years ago. Every odd gen brings new features while every even one just improves upon those features.

Gen 1 was the start

Gen 3 had the NES & expanded gaming again

Gen 5 had CD's, 4 player games, analog sticks, 3D gaming

Gen 7 had Motion control, digital stores, HD gaming

Gens 2, 4, 6, and 8 were all improved versions of the previous in its basic form.

2 points:
1. Consumers are buying Quality > Novelty, consoles aren't toys anymore. Just like being a geek, lame is the new cool.
2. Did any last gen console have a good first year? I don't even remember getting one that early.

In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank

Lol.. I know what you mean. It sure as hell seems that way if you just take the PS4 outa the box. in its defence though it also has a camera capable of voice recognition and motion control. A kinect isn't "new ".

I think the new things, well until Morpheus gets here (if it ever does) are more under the hood things. Better OS, Share features (play/share) and PS Now.

Then again, considering how well it has been selling so far I guess more of the same is exactly what everyone wanted.
