You are using heresay to backup your claims, I'm telling you what gamers "say" doesn't even matter. Only you have suggested sacrificing framerate for resolution, which is what you keep assuming to counter my argument. Newsflash, I never said A. frame rate wasn't important and b. framerate is less important than resolution.

It is clear you do not understand the terms I am using so I will define them for you.

Resolution - The amount of pixels that can be rendered per frame on the display. The more pixels you display the more detail of a scene you can show. This is fact.

Draw Distance - The distance from the observer position that objects are not culled from the rendering process. If an object is outside of the draw distance then the observer cannot see it.

Resolution isn't simply about whether or not something is sharper, that is completely naive and unaware of how games even work.

If you don't have enough pixels there is a limit to the detail that can be drawn and that limit decreases the amount of things that will appear distinct in the distance. You can increase draw distance past the limit of detail you can render but it is a complete waste of resources because the viewer cannot see them.

Yep, the usual rhetoric. Sorry, the difference between 720p and 1080p is mostly negligable when actually playing games.

In practice I see people sniping just fine even when playing resolution sub-720p.

I'm not going to argue every point I don't have the same passion for internet arguments as you.

Wrong.

Any non-native resolution will be blurry... so HDTVs are 1080p and 900p or 620p will be blurry no matter what.

Blurry is subjective.

But its fair to say the native resolution is sharper.

I'll respect that it's negligible to you, but the gap between 720 and 1080 is absolutely staggering to me. It's a generational kind of gap to my eyes. I'll still take a great game @ 720 over a crap game at 1080, but if it's the same game, give me 1080 every time if possible (unless I can play it on PC with more haha!).

I'm not going to argue every point I don't have the same passion for internet arguments as you.

Increased detail benefits gameplay that depends on that detail. Resolution allows for increased detail. You can disagree all you want, your opinions aren't going to change facts and your just spinning in circles trying to reduce its importantce, because everything is a console war to you.

This is not an argument, this is a correction. Deal with it. Clearly your passion lies in defending your console of choice because your attempting to turn a statement about the objective benefit of resolution into a subejective statement about what different people can percieve and thus what is negligble to them, SOLELY because of the fact that the PS4 tends to output 1080p on games more than the X1. Your insecurity of the resolution disparity not only blinds you from comprehending the fact, but also compels you to futily try to downplay an objective fact about computer technology because you cannot fathom anything other than PS4 vs X1.

Hell, you even think of yourself as the epitome of the average gamer, honestly, if you were you wouldn't even be on these forums.

Your opinion is irrelevant, this is not a matter of opinion, its a matter of fact.

Nothing is wrong with preferring 720p, some people can't tell the difference between 720p and 480, but that doesn't mean you have to lie and say the difference doesn't exist and its not beneficial to gameplay.

Yet I have played Ghost on:

PC
PS3
PS4
Xbox 360
Xbone

And resolution made no difference in sniping or "aiming" in any of them. You're talking about tiny little maps in CoD, so draw distance is not an issue. Sniping isn't affected in this game by resolution.

Yeap it makes... The aim is better on PC and PS4 compared with other.

"he resolution deficit makes it harder to consistently pick out enemies from a distance compared to the PS4 version"

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-call-of-duty-ghosts-next-gen-face-off

You can continue to paste that irrelevant quote all you want, it won't make you correct.

I would agree, if you're just sitting there looking at the screen, a sharper image might allow you to pick out enemies far away better, or more quickly. But if you're sniping, you're already zoomed into that area so it doesn't make a difference.

And in MP where the areas are all super small, it makes 0 difference anyway.

Again, we've been using sniper rifles for decades in consoles games. The idea that a higher resolution would allow us to snipe better is laughable. I know there is no point with you though, so enjoy the last word about aiming LOL.

Stop defending 900p/720p. It's annoying. It is technically inferior. That is a fact.

1080p is preferable right? Fact.

But if you only have an Xbox One then you are stuck with sub-1080p in many games. Accept that you have chosen the weaker console or this will be a really stressful generation for you.

Well this thread went bad quick.

OT: For this type a game frame rate is king. Im glad they locked it a 60FPS. Hopefully the PS4 version is the same.

You're the second console warrior on this page to bring console warz into the discussion. It's funny to read, but it doesn't make it reality.

Who in this thread is defending 900p or 720p over 1080p? A silly comment was made about sniping being easier in CoD thanks to a boost to 900p. I know that's nonsense, so I pointed it out. I have to admit it does make me laugh that it "annoys" you, but sadly, it's all in your head. There is no defending going on here, no console warz.

Sounds like you're the one who is going to have a stressful generation unless you stop reading message boards and creating imaginary storylines. Hope that helps.

That's the thing. You're comparing 720p to 1080p as if that disparity is the same as 480p to 720p.

The reality is 480p to 720p was a much more significant transition. Percentage of pixels was also more significant. The blurriness of 480p is more perceptible.

The transition from 240p to 480p was also more significant than 720p to 1080p. Why? It was easier to see the difference.

I don't know if its been mentioned, but anything under 1080p is inferior simple because it needs to be upscaled. And usually upscalers can introduce artifacts. This was seen at launch, as the xbox one scaler was actually increasing jaggies because of an improper sharpening filter. This was apparantly fixed, but there still is a contrast/gamma issue which alters the look of the image. A native 1080p COD would bypass the upscaler and avoid such contrast/gamma issues.

You think calling someone a console warrior instead of fanboy avoids you a ban? It's the same thing.

Who in this thread is defending 900p/720p? I see YOU and that guy with the dog avatar.

I have nothing to be stressed about. My games are 1080p on my PS4. PS4 is winning every single week in sales, in all territories. I don't have to defend anything at all. I don't have to make excuses for my console of choice.

(BTW, "console warz" are part of every discussion. If you don't like that then please leave the forum or you'll have to deal with a lot more "console warriors" like me.)
