Forums - Gaming - Phil Spencer Comments on Forced Parity On PC As Compared To Xbox One

Xbox Division Boss Phil Spencer has replied to the recent allegations that Microsoft deliberately pressurize video-game developers to main parity on PC with games as compared to Xbox One version.

Phil Spencer via Twitter has replied that these allegations are "NOT TRUE" and clarified that he will talk about PC gaming state exactly when all plans are ready.

Earlier today, Reddit user Timonis revealed that few Ubisoft executives visited "Grenoble INP - Ensimag, the best Computer Science and Applied Mathematics in France" for presentation and and during Q&A session reveal some interesting details about the company who thinks 60 FPS looks WEIRD.

Ubisoft executives stated they always aim for 60 FPS for their games but Sony and Microsoft are forcing them to maintain PARITY on PC with games as compared to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can check out full details on these allegations HERE.

"Promise to sit down and discuss when our plans are more complete and public. Looking forward to sharing."

@gaijingalaxy @yosp Not true.

  1. @Microsoft would give Windows Phone the Xbox treatment before PC gets any crack at something new. That's how much they care about the PC.

@ViolentStCannon @Microsoft Promise to sit down and discuss when our plans are more complete and public. Looking forward to sharing.

When a fan replied that there are ton of things to be clarified from Microsoft related to PC gaming, Phil Spencer admitted:

"I take the responsibility of building out a strong gaming platform as part of Windows very seriously."

  1. @XboxP3 @Microsoft There's A LOT to be discussed on our end. PC gamers are gamers too and we're tired of being thrown under the bus.

@ViolentStCannon @Microsoft I take the responsibility of building out a strong gaming platform as part of Windows very seriously.

Parity of pc games always just seemed like something on the developer side to me. Takes less effort to port the same game from consoles without fully optimizing. Less effort = less cost = more money/profit.

Ubisoft's excuse on this was laughable. Try to blame others lol.

Man something apparently goes wrong... lets blame phil spencer and head of Sony Worldwide studios Shuhei #Logic

It wouldn't surprise me if any major console manufacturer, at any given point in time, has asked companies to keep PC games as close to full parity as possible to their console counterparts.  The ramifications of not making that attempt would be downright foolish for anyone trying to stay ahead with hardware that is guaranteed to grow obsolete over time.  That said, I think the whole "company X is evil" because they essentially just want a level playing field thing is quite pathetic.

Sure, it probably has happened in specific cases, but this seems more like an "overall" excuse, for every case regarding Ubisoft.

99% of the cases, it's the developers own decision. (disclaimer; that 99% figure is pulled straight out of my ass, it was just to prove a point).

Ubisoft says 30 fps is the future and that all will abandon 60fps then blames ms and Sony because of PC? Sony haven't pressured with ps3 for parity whole gen, x1 haven't pressured in the beggining (we are seeing parity but that may not be ms request) and they say this... They need to align their speech

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Sighh... Oh ubisoft... Why must you create unwanted debates? Ubisoft games on PC have been pretty lolz in terms of optomization and DRM way before this partity thing was even a thing

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Sounds like Ubisoft will say anything to deflect conversation about debates and stuff..

I'd take the word of Phil over some random internet guy any day.

Really want to hear his plans for PC gaming though, it could be really awesome...

They've already said PC is important to them once this year, it'll be at least 2 years before they say it again, let alone actually do anything with it.
