Forums - Gaming - The CHEEK of Gamestop!!

If the assumption that videogame stores don't pay a fee on used games/consoles is right then the following views stand.

Who do they think they are trying to get a slice of the DLC pie that they have no right to (gamestop claimed they want to be able to sell second hand dlc - lols). I don't see them giving publishers and console makers a cut from the money they make from second hand sales or second hand console sales to the maker. Isn't it the same thing?

Anyway the hypocrisy!

I suppose that is kind of ironic. But on the other hand, the publishers do get money when Gamestop sells new copies of games. But they don't get money when GS sells used copies.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

eh? What are you complaining about?

Are you saying that want a cut of all DLC sales? If so then yeah that is incredibly stupid and arrogant of them.
If this is about getting a cut of on disc DLC they sell in store... then I can understand why they would want that.

They want to start selling used DLC.

i know that. i was strictly speaking in relation to used games and console. they don't give the console makers a publishers a cent from all that but yet they are mouthing off looking to sell used dlc.

Its good.. Its the start of being able to resell your digital bought goods.. If gamestop wants to spend millions to come up with a system i'm all up for it.. F that you can't resell your digital bought stuff..

eh? How would that even work? WTF?

Actually not much different than the original Xbox One vision. You either trade it in via XBL/PSN for that stores respective credit. You lose access to the content. If they do something instore I assume you can give them your XBL/PSN tag  you lose  the DLC license and they give you GS credit. Im not sure if the latter will happen cause it will require 24 hour internet check.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

If Gamestop had to pay fees to publishers for selling their used games, the money you get from trade-ins would be even less and the cost of used games would be even more. I really don't think you actually want that.

They are losing importance so they are trying to get a slice of the DLC market.

i don't buy used ever and never will. I have a job and I'm happy supporting the industry by buying new. So unless I lose my job I'm never going to care if prices go up or down.
