Forums - Microsoft - Chinese are "Chilly" to XB1

This is a lie! We all know that China is BIG! I mean someone even called the people who expected this result as crow eaters or something like that... This is not reality!

So...where is the that chalkboard when we need it!

This one?

Updated! ;)

lets be honest. Halo 5 is the only thing that can "save" the xbox one on that list. ANd it's so far away it's gonna be too late for it to do anything to the ps4. it will give the xbox a few weeks bump will no slow down the juggernaut.

Microsoft says that 25 game development companies produce games for the Xbox One, but when you actually check out the games available there appear to be 10 (in China), ranging from sports and racing to big online games. However, for most consumers these games, which run between 99 and 239 yuan, cannot be bought without incurring a slight financial burden.

Forza Motorsport 5 is the most expensive of the games offered for Xbox in China at 239 yuan, but a low end version of a racing game like that for an Android set top box or smartphone can be found for free. It won’t be as nice but it will satisfy the gamer’s needs.

This is so stupid it makes my blood boil.

These are very cheap game prices, cheaper than anywhere else.

And comparing a Forza to the crap that's available on Android, I mean really? "won't be as nice"? Understatement of the fucking year.

Yet mobile is killing handhelds here as well, although the games are better, easier to control and also max $40 on handhelds.
When people are used to free to play and pirated software, it beomes an uphill battle to educate them that it's worth $600 + $40 per game for a region locked console with limited content. You see the casuals leaving consoles here as well, and China doesn't have a core console following to begin with.

What did I say? And PS4 won't fare much better. Culture gap is absolutely gargantuan in terms of want and need. X1 and PS4 are square pegs, China is a round hole.

Hate to admit it but Iwata was right...

Looks like he deserves more credit than we are currently giving him...

I find it fairly tough to believe that of all those images of people crowding stores at launch that most of them just wanted to play test a AAA console, I mean if the Grey market has sold so many import systems to gamers already surely then they wouldn't be in such a panic to see their first X1? There is some oddities in this story.

Do you think that is the first time something like that has graced this forum? Did you not know that every 3ds and Vita game has a "wont be as nice" free version available on mobile phones too?

China might not be the gold mine that I expected it would be...

possibly because the average person in china is not as well off as people seem to believe.

People see news about emerging markets, countries wealth, and think oh they must all have money burning holes in their pockets, when the reality is, a small percentage are wealthy and everyone else is bordering on poverty working for atrocious pay to keep the rich, rich.

China sounds a lot worse off than VGChartz predicted now.

Interesting...
