Forums - Gaming - DriveClub vs Horizon 2

An opinion piece of two games by an actual car nut and some one who owns both, not just claim so.

Graphics its DC realism to FH2 over saturated im not sure what to call it.  Preferance wins out here.  Both are good thats it.

Gameplay, its pure racing vs screwing around half the time.  Actual racing is weak in H2 while DC can be great to one nerve away from the DS4 flying at the wall.   Hope i miss the tv but god damn it can piss me of.  Overall some tracks and racing in DC really can wow, dont get that in H2 but neither do i hulk out in anger.

Handling, both are fake unrealistc.  DC is a hybrid sim/arcade H2 seems to have taken Frozas engine and dumbed it down considerably.  What these two games show in game is damn unrealistic and impossibel in real life.   DC braking is not right and to much grip to H2s LOL 100 + mph on dirt in sports car is really commical.

Content wise both get boring fast, tracks / world seems the same after a bit.  Cars dont overly feel different.  Boiles down to trying to run a lap faster in DC to just screwing around doing non racing shit in H2 after a bit.

Ui seems clean in both, but DC is dry as hell no soul while H2 is cringe worthy stereotypical douche dude bro commentary since the opening movie starts.  My god i hate it the narrator and annoying comments.  Ill take DC dryness over that.

Conslusion, two wayyyyyyy different games that feature cars.  Both just time killers till Gran Turismo decides to show up.  DC is unfinshed and needes content that should have been there from day one, H2 feels like a 30 dollar expension for Forza that they decided to charge you full pricer for.  I got bored of F5, H2 suffer from beign to much like it and i quickly got bored in it to.  DC im losing patience with fast.  Want weather to truly see how good it can be, payed 50 for DC and 40 for H2 so vlaue wise cant complain.

If you want actual racing get DC, if you want options and like screwing aroound get H2.  Neither is a pinnecle of racing gmae of any kind.  Both are fun when taken for what they are.

ps - WTF the jaggies why cant they rid of those damn things.  Is a streight clean line really that god damn hard to pull of.  Both have it and its annoying as hell.

Jaggies? Wtf, Horizon has been one of the cleanest games I ever played. Sure you played it?

A bit negative but sounds honest. I've only had DC for a day, and I can see how the aggressive AI can become frustrating. I guess it does its job preparing you for online racing... And the cars do have some good brakes. Otherwise the handling gives a good challenge when trying to maintain your speed.

I don't know if I'll get bored fast from the tracks. I got sucked into improving my lap times for over an hour twice already. Just feels so good in this game, and the wide open tracks are great. No need for a driving line or mini map, you can see everything clearly.

Best thing for me is the loading times and fast restarts. Normally I would go to GT6 for my track racing fix, but I'll be up and racing in DC before the GT6 logo even appears on ps3. New tracks is also a big plus ofcourse.

1080p with 4x MSAA is really great but it have some aliasing parts yet...

Said that I guess he is talking more about Forza 5 and DriveClub (the temporal AA works in most of cases but seems to misses some I don't know why).

The AA solution is Horizon 2 is the best between three games.

I guess he missed the part about FH2's focus on mainly being FUN to play :).

fun is subjective, plus i dont force my self to like games due to alliegence to a brand.

H2 bored me after not much time, if you put in large amounts of time into F5 liek me its gets boring far quicker.

Ofcourse it is subjective, opinions are that you know. I have never owned a game in the Forza series until F5 and FH2, and FH2 is the first racing game in 10 years that I am totally addicted to.

I've been really impressed with DriveClub. c:

I'm the opposite.

I take F5 over FH2 or DriveClub easily
