While PlayStation Plus owners wait for their free version of Driveclub, owners of the full game are currently struggling to connect their copy online.

In a new update posted to the official DriveClub Facebook page, developer Evolution Studios explained that the game's servers had hit their limits and would only accept a new player connection when an existing connected player left.

etc...

Holy crap, what a debacle of a game.

So basically, people paid $50 for PS+ and $50 for the game so they can wait in a queue...

seems like it. considering the social aspect is a big thing for driveclub, its quite disappoint to here about this. hope they fix it quick

I really really hope Sony can get their online service to function properly. I usually only play single player games, and don't even need a PS+, but it's always disappointing to see stuff like this hapen.

All this mess with Driveclub will certainly impact the reception and sales of the game, and might even stretch to the future games... Hopefully not.

So they can't release ps+ edition because of server load but can sell new copies of the full and discounted game? Makes no sense. I understand not being able to stop retail sales (that could be estimated by preorder) but allowing further digital sales while you can't deliver is idiotic. Bunch of morons with no planning skills.

Same here. i hope they do improve dramatically over the course of this gen. cause right now its pretty embarassing to have issues like these especially if the game toutes its social features

I think the game was even delayed because they wanted to work more on the social features.

Very cheap tactic. Even Activision, EA, Ubi or MS wouldn't pull off shit like this.

Good thing the single player is loads of fun. Looking at the trophy list many others are enjoying it as well. I don't know what's going on with their servers, but all the trophies having to do with online are still in the ultra rare range. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon. For now I've only scratched the surface of the events list and already driven over 300 miles.

you are probably right. And thast the thing, if the social feature was the cause of teh delay, then they should have made sure the servers would be  able to handle the stress of all the gamers playng drive club. I also believe that the reason for the ps fre edition is to make people buythe game as it happened  right after recieving quite a few bad reviews.

Hows the driving mechanic fel in Drive club compared to other racers?  Same here,  seems as though they are not having much luck with their online infrastructure. Thats good to hear that the game is quite big

The handling is easy to get into, yet difficult and satisfying to master. You won't spin out when you go slow, at top speed the training wheels come off. It feels really good when you start pushing the boundaries. Weight shifts, elevation changes, hitting the curb, all play major factors that you have to work with. It's very satisfying when you get the hang of it and nail a perfect set of corners. Break early, carfully power through the corner to maintain control and change direction at exactly the right time in chicanes.

Once I start improving my lap times on a track in DC I can't stop. It feels like doing an endurance race on Nurburgring in GT, very addictive.

It's nothing like arcade racers where you power slide through at top speed. (you can throw the car in a drift using the handbrake, it won't improve your lap times however) In arcade racers I usually feel like I hit the ceiling, perfect lap after perfect lap. In DC, like other sims, I still see room for improvement after an hour of doing laps. I know I can do each corner better individually, stringing a perfect set together requires full concentration. Day/night cycle plays a part too. Some corners I do better at night, some in the morning or afternoon. All depends on the visibility of braking points and the apex.

Another great thing is how responsive it is. I don't notice any input lag and the DS4 is great for making small and precise steering inputs. Too bad there aren't any replays, I think I'm doing the smoothest racing yet with a controller.
