Somewhere along the way gaming media got upset about this game, and I think nothing was going to change that. I listen to multiple gaming podcasts throughout the week, and the last few weeks leading up to this title have been brutal. Many just took an I don't care about this game stance. It is almost as if this title could not escape the shadow of Gran Turismo, even though it is a completly different game.

I think it is another case of it being a Sony game, so threrefore it falls under harsher critisism than that of other publishers. Had this came out from EA, UBi, Capcom, ect. it would have easily recived more attention, and otained the low to mid 80's meta score that it actually achieves.

I completely disagree. So it's the Media and the fact that everyone hates Sony this game got a bad rating? Is that what you saying?

So if that's the case Xbox Games should be getting 0 with all the hate, along with the media hate to go with it. Nope this game got rated on it's marits.

What else then do you compare it too?  How good taco's taste?

I am saying exacty what I said. I don't know what turned the media off, perhapps the delay? Or just being to similar to GT, in some uniformed minds? I don't know but many media sights had a bad atitude towards this game, and they let it bleed over into reviews.

As far as the comment about Sony. Unless it is a Naughty Dog game, Sony games usually get reviewed extrermly harsh. Things that other studios put out that get 9's, end up as 7.5s if they are publshed by SCEWWS. Sony has some stigma around it that every game they make is expeted to change the gaming landscape. So when they put out a game that just does everything right, but nothing ground breaking t is considered a failure. I heave yet to see this expectation placed on early any other publisher, most get to pump out the same uninspring sequal year in, and year out to a steady stream of ~9's.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

A racer that isn't open world/real racing simulator. Something very rare these days. I can't name anything like DC that has been released on the current gen.

I still think that if I had bought a PS4 last year I would buy DC although it is lacking as I just like racing games in general. I doubt it's my cup of tea completely as I still like arcade games to be arcade and sims to be sims but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have any fun with the game if the AI wouldn't fuck me completely.
Still the game is to be reviewed in a context and it seems that even after the delays game is still sort of lacking and sparse on content.

Where were all these people saying you shouldn't compare FH2 and #DC before release when we were getting all the threads comparing the graphics and weather effects? Seems the idea that you can't compare the two racing games only came about after it was apparent #DC was getting killed by critics.

Every time the graphics were compared, 'but FH2 is open world' came up...
So it's not fair to compare the graphics, but it is to complain about of lack of going off road and penalties for cutting corners?

A lot of complaints against DC seem to be formed on it not being an open world racer.
Yet weirdly FH2 didn't get compared for things that are actually part of open world racers. Lack of content seems just as suited for FH2. Small map size (TDU and upcoming crew are far far bigger), lack of motorbikes (Burnout paradise and TDU offer those), lack of crashes simply losing a bit of speed when hitting oncoming traffic (Burnout paradise and NFS add a lot more thrills to racing by including actual risks), lack of police (TDU, NFS have those thrills) It would have been awesome to be chased by French and Italian police. The fun of exploring and doing all the extra open world activities in FH2 is rightfully praised, yet the thrill of shaving seconds of laptimes and close races on tight tracks seems to be barely mentioned for DC.

I like both open world and track racers, yet for totally different reasons. The actual racing is not the best atrraction of open world racers nor is hanging out in a virtual world what defines track racers. (And everytime they do, like the Dirt series, it's merely annoying)

Current gen is barely a year old. Grid 2 is the most recent track racer, may this year. Dunno why they didn't give it a current gen release.

I'm not going to write a review on it but this game is a 9/10 for me. Absolutely addicted to it. 5&6/10 from reviewers you're having a laugh!

Same here. I've been racing all day. How far in are you?
I'm lvl 29, finished the semi pro tournament, and keep getting distracted by setting better lap times. I won't move on from an event until I have all the stars and solid first place, then I'll play it again anyway with the HUD disabled cause it's just so good. DC has the best night racing I've seen yet. I love picking a circuit, start at 17:00, 30x time compression and race through the night into the morning setting the best lap time. Last night in Norway, the aurora borealis lighting up the mountains, flood lights, reflectors, headlights, simply spectacular.

I joined a club today when the server connection was working for a bit. That was about the extent of it working. Still no multiplayer events or challenges loading. Then it signed me out again and started downloading an update file. After the update it wouldn't connect anymore ofcourse.

Anyway still a long way to go to clear the single player portion. I tried out a hyper car already a few times. No handholding there. I guess reviewers complaining about too much grip didn't play it very far. It's been a long time since nailing a set of corners felt this satisfying.
