Forums - PC - How much did you spend on your PC?

I don't remember the specifics, but here are the rough prices of my components from Newegg back in May '06:

Case ~$100
Athlon X2 4200+ ~$300
BFG GeForce 7900GTX ~$500
PSU ~ $130
ASUS A8N-SLi Premium ~ $130
SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum ~$140
Logitech 2.1 speakers ~$65
WD 320gb SATA 2.0 HDD ~$130
OCZ 2GB pc3200 DDR ~$180
NEC DVD +-R/RW Burner ~$40
3.5' Floppy Drive ~15
1680x1050 LG :204-WT 20.1" monitor ~$320

Though some of these prices are probably off. I think the HDD cost a lot less, and the soundcard and mobo a bit more.

In the end it was a little over $2000. Though I was an idiot that didn't wait a month for Core Duo, which would've been faster and cheaper than my Athlon X2. A different mobo would've allowed me to upgrade easier later. As it stands, to upgrade to DDR2 ram and a new processor, I'd need a new mobo.

But, meh, I think I did pretty good for my first time.

My computer is a Dell Inspirion 1400 and it cost $798 (US) last October. Its only got 1gb of ram but I haven't had any real problems with it (except for a dead pixel, which Dell actually replaced the LCD) and a 14.1 inch screen is perfectly comfortable... 15.4 and 17 inch screens are cumbersome and bulky.

data corrupt? try if you have xp cd booting from the cd and repair the version or a clean install unless the hd was actually damaged! but I spend around $ 500 -700 every 2 years on upgrades for my main computer! I have 2 laptops and 4 desktops all networked and a wii and PS3 and 360 too!

Mine's an Acer:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ ~2.3GHz
ATI Radeon X1250
320 GB HDD
2 GB DDR3 Memory
Windows Vista

Cost me around $680 I believe. Also, came with 19" LCD monitor, optical mouse, keyboard, speakers, and a Lexmark printer/scanner.

I plan on getting an ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 soon to replace the crappy X1250.
