You could give Aralon: Sword and Shadow. It's a bit like a portable Skyrim.
Otherwise, A Bard's Tale might be worth a look. And of course, Square Enix have re-released tonnes of JRPGs for Android.

The ports all work great cause jrpgs don't need a d pad or something.. I find it much easier to go through menus and battling on a touchscreen
There are also some Western gems like Aralum Sword and Shadow (or something like that) |
First few Zenonias are good, but the later ones really require big time grinding to win without the need of utlizing IAP.
Also, thanks for the Happy Chick recommendation, it works with non-jailbroken iPhones. Downloading it now.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)
If you like cRPG/wRPG:
Baldur's Gate
Bard's Tale
Shadowrun Returns
Ravensword: Shadowlands
Also Pocket RPG is nice little dungeon crawler.
While not a full fledged console like RPG, you could try out Brave Frontier. Yeah it is fairly simple, but it is fun. Been playing for almost a year now, but I won't lie, I am P2P. Likely dumped about $100 into it over the course of the year. Only game I ever did that with. Easily playing when going F2P though as they constantly have events with catchable strong powered units. Coming up soon is a colaboration event with SEGA, enabling players to get Hatsune Miku, who looks to become the games top leader unit.
You could also give Knights of Pen and Paper+1 a shot too. I loved that title.

I know that in the US it is illegal whether or not you own a legal copy of the game (but not really something you would ever get in trouble for), but beyond the law, I certainly don't think it is something members of the gaming community should condone. If you emulate/pirate, keep it to yourself and don't encourage others to do the same... |
Ehm, you're mixing again two things that aren't the same: if you own a legal copy and run it on an emulator instead of on its actual HW, you AREN'T piirating.
OTOH, if you have a pirated copy, you're pirating both if you run it on an emulator or on the actual HW it was published for.
Even if emulators are OFTEN used to run pirated copies, they AREN'T ALWAYS.
Emulation and piracy aren't linked bijectively.
If these companies would release their titles on my iPhone I wouldn't need an emulator. That or don't charge me $10+ for a SNES port.

I don't know about any best RPGs on android except those that have also been on portables or consoles, but I can tell you that an android RPG has taken the throne as worst RPG I've ever played.
Band of Monsters has 4/5 stars on Google Play and was MSRP $7.99 for the first million sales. After the first million they started giving it away for free. I feel sorry for everyone who paid for this pos.
Zenonia is disgusting. I played the first game all the way through, and I could have sworn that I wrote a sort of review for it somewhere on this site, but I can't find it. The gist of it was that the game is not worth your time, and I was so sickened by the whole experience that I couldn't bring myself to give the sequels a chance even though they're free. I started the second one and recall it not only feeling the same as the original, but the menu actually being more cumbersome. Would not recommend.

They also just recently brought the Deemo colaboration dungeon to Global too.
It's an iOS/Android title. It's a Music/Rythm game. Music is great too.
