There used to be a line in the Forum Rules that said something along the lines of "Content is king. You cannot create a thread that contains just a link in the first post".

Is this no longer the case? It is now okay to just post a link in the OP and nothing more?

Nope, it is not ok.  They actually just made a thread about it.  So you can report it and the mods should lock it or make the op add something so it isn't just a link.

Thanks. Do you have a link to the thread you're referring too?

There ya go!

Thanks again!

Heh, I guess that when we updated the rules to incorporate the no "copy/paste" rule, we accidentally got rid of the no "just a link" rule.

Truck will put it back ASAP.

Great to hear, thanks!

One of my threads got locked and I don't like the given reason:

Is this what VGC has become? People who do not like the truth of a topic cause an uproar to get it locked. They attack only a certain group of people for posting in the thread with the justification that I, the original poster, asked to refrain from posting, but they omit another group that is guilty of the same and actually to a worse degree because they've brought nothing reasonable to the table. Instead of giving in to the people who threw a fit, the mods should speak out a clear warning that people should post on topic, and if they have nothing of value to contribute, they should stay out.

When the premise of a thread is that someone is the best, then said premise can only be proven wrong by showing that someone else is better and thus deserving of the spot of being the best. But when a limited sample size of Nintendo's output like this...

Super Mario Bros. (established the sidescrolling 2D platformer, hugely successful and still relevant)
The Legend of Zelda (established the action-adventure genre, hugely successful and still relevant)
F-Zero (the grandfather of futuristic racing)
Super Mario Kart (established the fun-racer subgenre, hugely successful and still relevant)
Star Fox (among the first console games to use polygon graphics, SF64 established the rumble feature)
Super Mario 64 (the foundation of not just the 3D platformer, but something that moved forward 3D gameplay on the whole)
Ocarina of Time (the Z-targeting solved the problem of hitting stuff in a 3D space, so another big deal)
Animal Crossing (this life simulation is still enjoyed by millions of gamers)
Wii Sports (huge influence on gaming, hugely successful)
Wii Fit (another title that hit it big and was followed up by countless copycats)

...already had such a notable impact on video games on the whole (the above is merely EAD, so I have yet to mention a lot of stuff that came to life under Nintendo's supervising), and covers so many genres, then who in the world is a better developer? Nobody. Nobody can compete with such quality, such quantity, such variety that Nintendo has provided during their time in the video game business.

All that's left for people is to argue subjectivity and that's of course not a reasonable metric, because if we go down that path, then someone could say that the guy who made Meme Run is the best developer in the world. People should have the decency to let the thread die (because there's no reasonable counter-argument to the presented premise) instead of throwing a fit to the point that it needed to get locked.

You made a baiting thread, you knew it when you created it, and you expected the end result.

Well yes, the statement that Nintendo is the best is baiting. No matter how true it is, it was going to provoke a lot of users because they can't handle it.

*rolleyes*

You're getting tired, Rol.

Maybe, but I still expect to get another "thank you" from you the next time I bully the "correct" type of people.

I actually thought you were baiting Nintendo fans there, because of your request to them. It seems I overestimated you.

This post was moderated, so these types of comments are now moderated and its bannable?

Good to know but if i remember i saw these types of post in the order threads for example, saw it in bloodborn threads too.

Anything said can be moderated depending on the situation, context, and user history.

I sometimes feel that these things are always taken into account and that decisions are made before questions are asked if at all.

If one user can say something and not be moderated, then it shouldn't be out of bounds for someone else. I understand history is important when making judgment, but it can also cloud your thinking and not see the light of which something was posted.

My 2 cents.
