And how many lines of long and useless "only the user who wrote it actually cares" text does that make?

*shrugs* I don't really care.

Then, if people all have signatures as long as his, what difference is there with excessively long quote trees when it comes to scrolling the threads to the relevent parts of the comments?

I was only joking (like you said, only the user who wrote it really cares) XD

I'm honestly not sure how we'll tackle that yet. But yeah, overly long text sigs is definitely part of that.

Well there is an option to hide sigs in the forum. No such option exists for quote trees.

No need for any sig length rules then, right? After all, there's an option to hide sigs, so sig images aren't supposed to be an issue.

Is that what you're saying?

I was told to go here so here I am

First off, you mods are nice. I like a lot of you, if not all of you on a personal level. With that said, I would like to propose that you guys are too strict.

As I said in my thread, why is everyone so sensitive? We are not 5. I understand that if you flame or troll you will be moderated or your thread will be closed. Yet, my thread was closed because I used the word "lame".

Really? Is "lame" really that bad? That's how strict everyone has become? The thread was going well with non-hostile conversation but still got closed because of one non offensive word.

Honestly, that is lame

Calling the PS4 lame is sure to get reactions because many will equate it to a lighter version of "the PS4 sucks". Like you said, we're not 5 so you shouldn't have to use a deregatory term to attract attention when what you meant was that the PS4 was the console with the least innovation in your opinion.

If you feel like discussing this topic, you can go ahead and re-do your thread, keep the word lame out of it and present your case for the PS4 being less innovative. I'm sure you'll get a good lengthy topic out of it and users won't be prone to report it since it doesn't attack a console.

I even said I liked the system & was enjoying it. It's not my fault if people decide to jump to conclusions before reading the OP. The PS4 doesn't suck at all. I was using the word "lame" in a non-serious way like "that's lame Ha" not "this system sucks". I wasn't using it as a derogatory term, if lame is that offensive, that's sad. In my opinion of course.

I respect your opinion though and with further threads will choose my thread titles more carefully. I'm sure if I used the same exact OP but without including lame in the title, it'd be fine. I can call it lame, just not in the title essentially.

Hi.
I was wondering if there's anywhere I can learn about how to handle the different forum posting features here, like the quote boxes and creating tables.
For example, if I click on the Quote button when replying to someone, (1) I'm unable to put my cursor above the quote box. This leads me to have to open another normal reply window, and copy and paste the quote into it, while reserving a row at the top so I can type there.

(2) I'm also unable to edit out singular quote boxes some times, (if I try, it some times deletes the whole quote tree instead), which I want to be able to do when quote trees grow too large. I suppose I can do it when clicking the html button, but I'm not sure what codes to delete.
Any guide somewhere around here for me to read about these functions?

Thanks.

1. What you need to do is click inside the quote box and then on the bottom of the post box you'll see Path: table > tbody > tr > td > p. Click on table then hit the left key on your keyboard. That will place the cursor before the quote box, being typing and the text will be inserted before the quote.

2. Here's a thread made specifically on how to deal with quote trees: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=161023

I never knew it was so hard to delete quote boxes. I always put the cursor into the box I want to delete and then use the "Delete row" icon of the rich text editor.

That works too!

Btw, I have another forum related question.
What exactly is it that alerts someone in the Vgchartz Buddy that someone has quoted one of their posts? (Purple icon.)
Is it any time a quote from that person is being posted, or is it the act of pressing the Quote button on that person's post?

For example, say I click on the Quote button on your latest post TruckOSaurus, and I also click on the Quote button on RolStoppable's post above, but open it in a separate window. Now I have two different tabs open, with two different quotes from both of you. I go to the quote I made to RolStoppable's post and press Ctrl + A (highlight all) and then Ctrl + C to copy the quote box of RolStopable, but I close that tab, and paste it into the other post I'm making (the one I started by clicking Quote on TruckOSauru's post).
Now I'll have one post containing quotes of two different people. But I started that post by clicking on the quote button on TruckOSaurus only.

Now if I go ahead and make this post, will both TruckOSaurus and RolStopable get a purple icon alert in their Vgchartz Buddy, or only TruckOSaurus?

Only I would get the blue icon.
