I figured you were talking about metacritic, seeing as this is a metacritic thread :p Anyway, of course brand affiliated sites tend to (on average) be more positive. It's why metacritic only lists a few at a time (and from my understanding they're weighted far lower than sites like IGN or GT). |
Well, it certainly seems that the xbox-affiliated websites were more critical of forza horizon 2 than several other non-xbox affiliated websites.
Ex: totalxbox: 80
xboxachievments: 85

Maybe some were on that occasion. Many were likewise far more positive towards Forza 5 than most other reviewers. We're only talking about a select sample group here. Variables are, obviously, unavoidable.
What i said was a generalization, not a case by case absolute ^^; Hence my wording.

Yup, understood.
I would think big triple A games can be judged with more attention to the details and the mechanics in their games. Getting reviewed with a finer tooth comb and really explain that game in multiple facets of focus within just the game itself. Reviewing the game and being honest without distraction of other notions.
I just seen GameSpot and Eurogamers' review. What the freck is that? How can that even happen? These scores are all over the place. I'm not trying to say the score by GameSpot and Eurogamer are wrong with what they think to be it should be, but holy cows. Hooooorrrrrooorrrrr-endous reviews. This seems like a mess because disgruntled jerk low balled to the nuts. Somebody sees the offending jab and counter strikes.
I've got the game and in no way does it deserve a 5 or a 6. That is absolutely absurd. I am really glad I got it. It's a very high quality game. You can even judge for yourself with this free version coming out soon I highly recommend giving it a try.

Just opinions man.

So, you're saying it's sensible to wait until the game goes on sale (or buy a used copy) sometime next year when they finally finish developing it? Can this $60 incomplete version be considered some sort of an Early Access? If that's true, 72 is a great score for half the game... |
The incomplete version is still really good, in my opinion. The additional content will be offered for free, so there's no need to buy the game second-hand to offset the DLC cost (or lack thereof). Also, there have been conflicting opinions within sites such as this from "Digital Foundry vs. Driveclub" in Eurogamer: "It's fair to say that we had more fun with the game than Mike did in the Eurogamer review, the combination of the arcade-style handling and the often beautiful visuals delivers an experience well worth checking out."
The most important part of the analysis is that David Bierton correctly acknowledged Driveclub as an "evolution of an old school arcade racing game, as opposed to the state-of-the-art simulation." This is something that many reviewers failed to acknowledge and as a result, jugdged a game as something it was never intended to be.

Also getting crappy reviews about Ai being to aggresive, Not open world and you can't be off the road for more then 3 seconds and it ruins the intesitive feeling of the game.... It seem to me they dislike the game being to complex and challenging. DC can't drive through Vine-yards.. That is why it sucks and it's so unrealitistic... yeah right keep telling yourself that.. Petter solberg was once among the greatest Rally racers until he reached the top.. even with his car which was built to drive off-road to begin with couldn't handle driving through a Vine-yard without losing completely control.. but according to Forza? he should have had a super car or else that wouldn't have happen.
Track is a limited sourche, you are forced to rely on better turns, strategied Drifts etc etc to get past the other cars.
Open world: The fastest cars is those who will win.. so it's basically a giant drag race
I got nothing against Forza, to me it look like a decent racer and all, but it's dumb to use Forza as a benchmark when reviewing other games. basically Driveclub got all the bad reviews on the stuff forza had, and Driveclub didn't have.. it comes off as shady to me because i would have given Driveclub even worse if it ended up as a copy.
DC was expected to be badly reviewed, and the soul purpose of the game will be built on later.
When a game are getting new content every month, getting visually better etc etc.. it's actually a good thing, cause you wouldn't be doing and be seing the same thing every single day for the rest of the year. *Posetively viewed*

PSN: Opticstrike90
Steam: opticstrike90
Game is lots of fun and challenging but I can see why its not getting stellar reviews. No car customization is a bit of a letdown but at the same time makes the game more challenging because unlike forza or other games you don't have an edge in performance. Its an arcade racer with really stellar graphics, can't wait for the weather update.
I actually cancelled my preorder right before it shipped. I was watching streams all day on launch. The game was too much in between arcade and sim. I think if the game had full modibility to the cars. I wouldn't of mind. But it was just basic. So I passed. If they make a GOTY edition. And it comes with all the patches, dlc etc. I'll buy it then.
