As someone who was hyped for this game, what a bunch of BS. I'll buy this second hand because Parity is a bunch of BS. Holding back the PS4 just because MS put out an underpowered machine is in no way reasonable.  I'd rather my money go to Gamestop.

What ever happened to playing a game because it's fun? Just because the game is designed to look the same as it would on any other platform doesn't make the game any less fun. I mean, do you really call yourself a gamer?

I sure as hell do. A gamer who doesn't like BS like this and won't support awful business decisions. It's not my problem that MS put out an underpowered machine, let them suffer for it but don't intentially hold back the PS4.

If power is such a concern for you, then maybe you ought to game on the PC

So people really still think MS paid them? What would it be woth then if you think this is true?

Obviously Ubisoft underestimated the lack of power of 6 netbook CPUs for their need in ACU. And if both versions really end up looking the same like an egg to an egg nobody knows currently.
And to those referring to GPGPU: Yes, this is ongoing research but remember the GPU is also used for graphics at the same time... If you use all the ressources for graphics than nothing is left for GPGPU. So you either gimp graphics or you lose GPGPU functionality - there is no unused hardware lying around for free use.

Update: Ubisoft has said there is still a chance that the final specs for Assassin's Creed Unity could go beyond 900p.

"Final specs for Assassin’s Creed Unity aren’t cemented yet, but we can say we showed Assassin’s Creed Unity at 900p during our hands-on preview event last week," a spokesperson for the publisher told GameSpot.

"We’re confident that gamers will be thrilled with the gorgeous graphics and how Paris is brought to life in Assassin’s Creed Unity."

912p? I already read it but looking at the footage the game looks amazing even it is at 900p, in my opinion.

Those aren't enthusiast PC specs, imo are middle-high end. Anyway that is what they usually put as recommended system requirements for AAA titles. That's the standard they aim to, like it or not.

I didn't say those were enthusiast specs.

In any event, a PC standard isn't the same as what is expected from a console. That would be silly, anyway, as PC standards are constantly changing and console specs are fixed hardware. Beyond that, Sony, themselves, went and spoke to developers about what they wanted. The company didn't build the machine all on their own (a first for them). Thus, I don't get what you're on about.

I was simply stating that the way the PS4 was marketed and what the users have come to expect (always 1080p) it's not going to happen. I'm not saying that this was a bad choice, but people have to make peace with reality. You are right PCs evolve fast, but we are in the first year and the gap is already this big. Last generation didn't paly this way. Consoles held up to PCs for a couple of years.

So far, it happened for all but 1 game as far as I know (BF4 which is technicall mess anyway), so i I say full HD expectation is reasonable for PS4.

Games such as UC4 have graphically fidelity (from what we've seen) which matches anything on high end PC at the moment is targeting 1080p/60fps, and this is only the 1 year into the PS4's cycle. Compare launch titles of PS3 and its 2013 exclusives and you'll see what huge progresson was made. While the hardware on a console is fixed, its graphical quality is always evolving into something better. Perks of dedicated hardware

Can you find me a PC that blows PS4 out of the way or 400$ ?

Yet another great popcorn thread.

That said, I haven't seen this opinion so let me offer it (and if I missed it sorry I skimmed by). Perhaps the parity in this gen is because the devs saw the sales suffering on the platform they didn't favor last gen and are now trying to keep things more even in hopes of getting maximized sales on all platforms. One vision, one game, essential one version. Backfiring, but might be in some minds there.

5 bucks says they will either release PS4 version 1080P or patch it in quickly.

You'd have a point if the PS4 wasn't capable of running it in 1080p. From what Ubi has said, however, doesn't sound like that's the case - rather, the gimping was intentional. No, every game on PS4 won't run in 1080p, but when the vast majority of its library does, the ones that don't stick out like sore thumbs, and this instance is stacked with EVEN MORE scrutiny because of the mentioned variables.

As for last gen holding up to PCs for a couple of years - not quite. Those consoles were outdated by the time we reached 2007 (just a year after the PS3's release - and in some cases, just a few months). Even with that, the biggest issue was price. Unless you condone high-priced home consoles, it's good for everyone that they didn't try to create super-charged devices again.

Bottom line, consoles have never held up to PC for very long and I don't get why anyone would expect that to change.

They were outdated a week after the PS3 launched, when the DX10 compliant 8000 series Nvidia cards launched.
