Forums - Sales - Call of Duty is now a Playstation Series.

That has been pretty evident starting around the 5th gen.

PS1 benefited greatly from N64 staying with carts. Saturn was DOA for various reasons.
PS2 maintained that success thanks to great 3rd party support. OG Xbox had a strong core following though.
PS3 was too expensive early on and Xbox had good momentum. That helped the 360 thrive.
Now X1 fucked up primarily on price. They simply couldn't compete with Playstation at equal or higher price.

I refuse to believe you're serious on this. There is no primary fucked up thing they did, it's a package, the DRM they wanted to use, the Kinect that must be plugged in and on all the time (you know, that hard switch and so on), the weaker hardware, the focus on TV TV TV TV TV TV TV, the horrendous design, seriously this VHS style is something I'll never understand (legend says it's for the fan to be really huge and quiet, something X360 suffered from so I guess it's for the greater good), the always-online, even if they backtracked on most of these things it's too late.

There is some truth into what MS said about who's at 10m first wins because you buy what your friends bought, and if the first buyers picked a certain console this console will be more likely to have a strong momentum going forward.

Now MS has to face an uphill battle that for now they can't win UNLESS THEY FUCKING DROP THE PRICE (see, our arguments align here but it's not the primary fuck up they did, but it's something they need to do).

why should i trust vgc software

If you have something more reliable to show than pleae, be my guest and add it into the discussion. As of now these are the most reliable numbers I know. For all we know, the gap could be wider than you think!

cod was always a xbox franchise

installbase for 360 vs ps3 is still nearly the same

so why should ps3 now magically have a higher attachrate?

why that 1m adjustment up?

doesnt make sense to me. and without any explanation i dont take it to serious

I guess PS3 gamers are still satisfied with their system then.  :)

A wild guess, but I think it might have something to do with PS360 gamers moving to the next-gen consoles

could only be possible in continental europe and rest of the world.

in the usa and uk the software sales drop for ps3 is bigger than x360. so ps3 migrate faster to current gen

but that still doenst explain why vgc made an 800k adjustment for call of duty: ghosts ps3 version (ps4 got an 100k adjustment)

but x360 and x1 none

Believe it.

If they launched for $299, I feel it would have been a different story in spite of everything. That's one of the biggest reason 360 did so well, price.

MS sell it for 200$ less than they did and 100$ less than they are now? I'm pretty sure they want to win shareholders over with the xbox brand not give them the final straw that makes them say, yep get rid of it.

I also think it's unfair to just say the 360 with a cheaper price and early release is the only reason the 360 did well. In that case the Wii U should be doing much better. The fact is the 360 was a very good machine and people liked it. If it wasn't very good it could never do well. No matter how much SOny messed up.

Edit: I just realized that we're talking about this on a thread with nothing to do with this. I forgot how we even got here. Back to topic please! COD is Sony's once again!

Why do Sony fans keep mentioning the shareholders? MS clearly doesn't make all their decisions based solely on what some shareholders want. Anyhow, the larger market share means greater potential profits from software, Gold memberships, etc.

I'm not saying the price is the only reason 360 did well. It was just a huge reason.

Wii U is struggling because the tablet control isn't appealing and casual audiences aren't buying next gen consoles.

If CoD is Sony's then it would be an exclusive.

A $299 console would simply be a different console. One as weak as the Wii U probably considering that it is supposed to be $349. A $299 console would lose a lot of money.

What your saying is similar to this statement "If the PS3 launched at $399 (or lets just go with $99 because F profit), it would be a different story."

Well they're losing money now with damage control. 360 lost a lot of money early on. The goal would be to make it back via games and Gold subscriptions.

The PS3 was a different story. They were really pushing cutting edge technology. I mean teh cell and Bluray!!! There were claims Sony was losing money even at $600. Unfortunately, its games didn't look much different than 360.

PS4 and X1 seem a little more conservative. No big risks with the specs.

That's actually really surprising. I wonder how many of those converted COD fans would have also bought Halo...
