Ninja Gaiden will not really provide much of a boost for the PS3 in North America because (for the most part) it is the same game that was released in 2005 with Ninja Gaiden Black, which was (for the most part) the same game that was released in 2004 with Ninja Gaiden for the XBox; neither of those games broke 1 Million units even though they were high quality and on a far less expensive system. In Japan I couldn't imagine this game performing on a much higher level than Gundam Musou ...
Lair's impact on sales is far more uncertain, it's pretty but has a lot of things which may (or may not) limit sales; it is not a popular genre, it is not a sequel, and it is not based on a licenced property. None of these issues means that the game can not be popular, but probably means that there is very little awareness of this game. Sony will need to heavily market this game but (much like Motorstorm) this may end up failing to attract the type of attention the game needs.
