PS4 has good features and these features are essential. So you think region locking bad or achievement are unnecessary? The target market aka gamers thinks otherwise.
Think they will stick with the ds brand as it is stronger, But they will have 3 skus one will be a dedicated handheld for two hundred, a standalone console that will cost two hundred and the the sku will be a combo of both for 350, that all skus will play the same games, I think they will call it 4ds , I think the console will only be as powerfull as the wii u maybe just powerfull enough for 1080p 60fps, but the console will be desigened to upscale the handheld games more than anything else. The handheld will be by design like the new 3ds but again more powerful. the 4ds will be able to use all previous controllers backdated to gamecube, it will have a huge focus on digital downloads and retro consoles to counteract third party support.

As it says in that slide ... Transitioning to 20nm or 14nm gives you barely any cost saving and 10% is not tiny but it's marginal plus those are their best case projections judging from the dotted lines. The guys that you actually want to hear from are the semiconductor foundries themselves such as TSMC or Samsung and both of them project no cost savings. As far as increasing clocks, I remain skeptical about that since the gate dielectrics have already reached their theoretical limits. Cost savings of 20% each year sounds insane for the most part if there's absolutely nothing to drive those costs down such as EUV ...
FYI TSMC's 16nm is essentially a redone 20nm process with FinFETs.
If Nintendo is making another console in a traditional sense (not a Fusion device, which will likely just be mobile components like a VitaTV is) ... then the focus on making the console so small and power efficient is basically stupid.
*No one* cares Nintendo. The Wii U isn't selling despite being small, the GameCube didn't, the Wii sold because of a controller gimmick that took off like crazy for a few years, not because the casing was small. No one complained about the size of an NES and it's not like we live in hobbit holes.
If there is another console, Nintendo is simply going to have to accept that they will have to make it for Western tastes first and foremost. The Japanese console business is dead, time to move on.
There's nothing wrong with a console that's the size of an XBox 360 Slim or (gasp) even the PS4. You can also shrink the console over time, which results in sales boosts.
