Well, the first year of any new generation of consoles is always a slow one due to the fact of being a transition year between the old and new generation. Next year, we'll have plenty of awesome games for the current generation only.

Yeah. Depends on the fanbase as well. If the fanbase isn't a huge pain in the ass about everything, and there's a ton of fan-created content that aren;t necessarily games themselves, that's a catalyst for thought-provoking discussions.

Case and point: Touhou Project.

Been enjoying next gen ever since launch of PS4. Sure it's lots of cross gen but why would I buy games on PS3 when I can get a far superior version on PS4? I would never dream of getting AC4 on PS3. Not to mention after getting WiiU I discovered a whole new awesome feature on it no one seems to be talking about, RESTORE POINTS. I bought ALttP (first time buying a 2d Zelda) and I LOVE that you can save anywhere! I always hated games with no checkpoints (even though I platinumed Demon's Souls despite that annoying the hell out of me go figure lol) so having this feature is a BIG deal to me. It makes NES and SNES games FAR more playable and less annoying when you die. Now I can save before a boss and just keep going at him instead of treading back from the beginning of a dungeon (always hated that in Zelda games).

Belive me when i say quite a lot of Souls fans are keep an eye on this game and are waiting for reviews to decide if it's gonna be a good game. We hope it is. The more clones the merrier lol

Neither. Gameplay from God of War is good, and Story of God of War is good. But whereas I felt no interest in the hack n' slash mechanic (Because I tend to not enjoy the genre), I've had pleasant conversations regarding the way GoW employs mythology into its core plot.

I am blown away at how fun Shadow of Mordor is. If you like Assassin's Creed, the Arkham games, or Dynasty Warriors, it is a must play. It is basically the good things from those 3 series smashed into one game that is intentionally over-the-top "epic".

This gen will officially start in 2015 when heavy hitters hit the scene.

We've pretty much gotten remakes and niche games so far.
