Forums - Gaming - IGN's Fifteen Of the Most Heartbreaking Game Cancellations... What Are Yours?

......Uh, Mega Man?

Yeah man, I'm surprised this didn't make IGNs cut. This was a HUGE diappointment to MANY Mega Man fans and I signed a petition to continue to fund it. It felt like a smack in the face by Capcom. This game looks so epic by the previews and it seemed it would have FINALLY linked Mega Man to X. To this day I hate Capcom for mistreating their Mascot.

For those who never seen it, here's the Trailer to Mega Man Online

Also Mega Man Legends 3 would have came out for the 3DS, another stab in the Heart. I know for a fact this game would have sold more than a million copies just on the popularity of Mega Man and the 3DS. They even had a FREAKIN playable DEMO man!!

The gameplay looks like a LoZ:OoT within the Mega Man universe!!

Also another game I would have gotten is the FPS MAVERICK HUNTER! You play as X in a FPS!! It looks like a Spin Off of Metroid Prime but that's what makes it awesome!!

These games got cancelled because the Creator of Mega Man left Capcom. But I have a feeling he left because of what Capcom as a business wanted to do with the games... We will never know for sure though.

Around the Network

Shenmue 3
Final Fantasy Tactics 2

''Hadouken!''

The only one I can think of is Tiberium. New FPS in the C&C universe could have been awesome.

I don't like any of those games.

Especially Maverick Hunter :/

What a greeeeeat list. I've never even heard about most of those games. In any case, according to a thread I made a while ago, my most heartbraking cancellations have to be TimeSplitters 4, Streets of Rage, Project HAMMER, Bulletstorm 2 and those Mega Man games... ( fuck you Crapcom)...

Many of those games could have been good, I'm sure. It makes me wonder a little, a lot of companies complain about things that hurt profits, used sales, piracy etc. But what about making most of a game and then cancelling it? Not exactly cheap to spend all that time making a game then just not releasing it.

Now for something like Star Wars 1313, I can understand why. Disney shut all of LucasArts down pretty much (a waste but I understand). But Eight Days? I saw some of the production videos, they made interactive environments. Now SCE London Studio are doing what? More SingStar? They must be bored out of their minds.

Hmm, pie.
