Nothing will reach ps2 levels, unless China and many other emerging countries start buying a ton of consoles.

10-12 percent? That's more than I thought.

No, no it isn't.
CPI inflation has only been 35% from 2000-2013. It is by no means impossible for the PS4 to have 1.35 billion in annual profits. Hell, a $50 profit per console (not saying this is the actual, just putting a number that is certainly obtainable) on 15 million consoles is already $750 million.
Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

Not hard to beat a negative. :P

It's actually insurance from Japan.
It's like 40% of all thier profits, maybe even 50%.

Not to mention that unlike the PS2 and PS3, the PS4 isn't being sold at a huge loss. I expect that will help more than anything (at least during the first couple of years).

so u need 100$ pure profit from 15m consoles every year
or 50$ pure profit from 30m consoles a year
thats hell of a lot...
but i can see the ps4 come close to the flat ps2 numbers in its best years :)

yeah, ur right
'The PlayStation division accounts for 10 to 12 percent of Sony's revenue'.
Playstation is absolutely proving to be a core pillar of Sony. I guess Sony will continue to have a lazer focus on Playstation with no let up, they simply can't let Playstation fail.
Sony is already profiting from the hardware itself. Even the PS2 was sold at a loss at the beginning.
