What a swerve, you go in expecting the classic "big company screws over little guy" by sending him a different unit, but no they sent him back his unit.... cleaned off completely. You got to feel bad for him.

Lol! Ah god that's the funniest shit I've read all day.

The best part is the exact same thing would have happened had he sent his system in under the PS2 DRE warranty fix. Heck Sony was nice enough to not only nice enough to polish up my system, but to vacuum out all the dust as well.

It really sucks for that guy, but seriously why would you even send it in if it was so valuable to you? If that was my 360 I wouldn't have sent it in. That was a big risk he took and it came back to bite him.

Did you see the comments on the page?

Hi guys,

Im one of the people that works at MS for console repair.
(im a lacky but I can shed some light on this)

Keep in mind that the console repair facility for north america is in mexcio, by a 3rd party company, under administration by microsoft. Very few people there speak english so the letter would have just been disregarded when the consoles are unboxed.
Standard procedure is for the consoles to udnergo a cleaning and removal of any stickers or anything on the console before and after the repair process (otherwise it might get back dirty and people would complain about that). Thats what happened here. It got scrubbed with rubbing alcohol twice before leaving.

Nobody took vengance against the console to purposley scrub it off, this incident inst the fault of MS. Its just std procedure to make sure the consoles are returned to the customer in like new condition.
Sucks that it happened to this console though :(

Thats why he called MICROSOFT and made sure nothing would happen.

MS people assured him it would be fine.

Plus it does not take a english speaking genious to see that the writing on the console was not just childish doodles.

Pernament marker does not come of easy.

I'm pretty sure MS wants their product being in top shape. They don't want their product looking like trash. It gives off a bad impression. (Spray painted buildings look awful and makes the neighborhood look ghetto)

But this is MS fault for trying to save money and take advantage of poor mexicans. AND if it was policy to scrub it clean they should have told him that.

Eh, should of known better. This likely would of happened at any of the big 3.

Sucks, but really, if it was worth that much to him he should of tried fixing itself or got a new one.

I'm sure the people who signed it + will get links to this article and he'll end up benifiting in the end anyway.

That's usually what happens in such cases.

Maybe i'd care more if I cared about signitures.  The only signature i have is of a football punter on a plush basketball... that i have mostly just for the irony of it.

The only other signiture i'd want is Bruce Cambell's on a DVD case for "Jack of All Trades" just to see him grimmace at the fact that someone remembers that show.

^thats what i was thinking actually.

I can see MS getting a rare Halo picture and have a bunch of people sign it.

That is just disgusting what they did, i would serious kill someone.

Man do I feel sorry for him. I can imagine that if this story turns quite big though that MS would probably get a bunch of devs to sign a new console and to send it to him free - its the type of thing a company does to make themselves look like the good guys.

Yeah, the MS representative on the phone should have told him they would scrub the PERMANENT marker off his console...the guy should complain like hell til he gets a bunch of free crap.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
