Innovation =/= improvement.
The WiiU game pad is innovative, but it brought its fair share of problems, same thing for the Wiimote.

That is wrong. Innovation = Improvement. Or at least the same but in a more efficient or creative way.

If a new thing isn't successful and doesn't have a positive impact, it is not an innovation. It's just new.

Novel =/= Innovation.

Most people who cry for innovation ignore or don't know what they actually desire. That's why they want something new in the hopes that they will maybe like it.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Around the Network

Just saw Angry Joe's Destiny review; there is plenty to complain about in the industry today. However, seeing how much AAA games with horrible policies and design choices sell; this is our fault, just as much as the developers'.

Jim Sterling did a great video about the idea of how the industry is meant to be innovating and such alike but in the end the biggest selling games are FIFA, Madden, CoD... you get the idea. Games that are pretty much the same each time just with slight changes/improvements.

Innovation is not what we want in reality, we just want good games but the media is so obsessed with what is or isn't innovative they talk like it's the only think important. If they bought a Mass Effect like games out each year, with a few improvements and a new story, I'd be happy.

But innovation helps the industry move along so every now and then someone needs to do it. It doesn't need to be a big thing though, simple small things like releasing games like Borderlands which encourage 4 player co-op (sorry don't know what game did this first but Borderlands made it cool). Other games adopt it.... like survival of the fittest in a sense. Games that adapt with the industry survive.

... I wish i knew what I was on about.

Hmm, pie.

To be honest I think the Kinect was damn innovative, although it wasnt precise enough for gaming.

Its sad that thing got completely sidelined. With better tech etc it would have been the future of interactive entertainment
