Forums - Politics - BREAKING NEWS! UPDATE! US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

I question if the US is actually bombing Syria/ISIS and not the Assad regime, Guess we'll see if Assad accuses the US of attacking them. (yes I'm more inclined to believe his government over ours who lies pretty much about everything)

Bomb the shit out of them!

US should also make sure that the new Syria government is pro-Western, so that Russia loses its only foothold in the Middle East.

Umm, the IS movement was a large part of the anti-government forces in Syria, bombing the IS forces is helping the Assad regime, not hurting them. Assad is from the Alawite religious sect that is aligned with the shi'ites, whereas ISIL (and the Saudi's) are Sunni, hence their hatred of Assad and the Syrian government.

Yeah but we are aiding the "Good" rebels so eventually Assad is gonna be pushed out by stronger forces.

The anti-government forces in Syria have been slowly retreating over the past 6 months, despite the heavy involvement of the IS forces and rumoured assistance from the US government. Remember the Assad regime are backed by Russia and silently Israel (who don't want another radicalised Islamic country on their border). Losing a significant proportion of their forces will not help them in anyway. I do feel for the first true anti-government protestors who wanted Assad's and his cronies out and fair elections, however like many protest movements it got overtaken by far better resourced and sinister players who had ulterior motives, much like what occurred in Egypt.

This is one of those 'an enemy of my enemy is my friend' situations, where the US have decided/realised that ISIS is a far bigger threat than the Assad regime ever was.  Of course, they can't openingly support Assad without having huge egg on their face, so this is the only remaining course of action, mop up from the air and leave Assad to fight the ground battle.

ISIS is the most evil group since the Nazis, thank goodness they dont have the power the Nazis did....

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

There is a serious disregard for human life in this thread. I hope ALL affected by this rest in peace, no matter which side they are on. The misguided terrorists who never got to live a normal life, or the misguided military that dance upon their masters' strings.

Wether they're good or not will have to be proven if they eventually take power.

I hear a lot of people here claim that we're doing the Saudi's work for them. That's not exactly the case here. Instead, we are in fact doing Assad's work for him. See, a lot of the people that make up ISIS were once in Syrian prisons. Whenever the situation called for it, the government would simply set these people free. When the free Syria protests started, Assad had all these people set free and let them go wherever they wanted. The intent was to poison the freedom movement and make it look like these freedom fighters were terrorists. The problem is these former prisoners became so powerful that the Syrian government could do anything about it. It was like a viral outbreak that was spreading quickly and could not be contained. ISIS spread throuhout Syria and into Iraq. By this point, the freedom fighters in Syria posed very little of a threat when compared to ISIS. Assad is more than willing to let us into Syria in order to clean up the mess that he himself started. As for the aftermath? When happens when there's no ISIS but just freedom fighters and US drones on Syrain soil? I'm sure he's thinking about that right now.

TBH pretty disusting how everyone here seems to love the fact that americans kill people. well things dont change at all.

And it does not matter who the people are that get killed because there is collateral damage.

Interesting to know, what would you say if next time when USA airforces will try to bomb the territory of Syria Assad will shot down US plane? He'll have all the rights to do it, since these bombings are not authorised by UN.

Let's hope this scum and all their advocates go straight to hell.

I also wouldn't mind if the ISIS guys joined them.

I will pray for all the civilians souls that will die for sure in these air strikes.

Me too.People get too excited thinking war is such a perfect thing if its coming from our side, innocents sadly always suffer. Civilians and lets think about the slaves and hostages they took too, could be that some of them just want to die but its still sad.

Nah, if the US wanted to bomb the Assad regime they could have done that after the chemical weapons were used in Syria.
