And how is it valueted then??? Show us how you get to a 2.5B value and return?

Mojang is valued that high because of the 50+ million mojang accounts it has.. turn/hook those into outlook accounts and you have 50+ million extra people into your ecosystem.. to have that incredible big community hooked into MS's ecosystem is worth 2.5B.. especially the amount of young players it has.. even from those 50 million if like 5 million young kids would get a MS account.. thats like 20 million dollar alone on viewable ads in outlook per year.. and thats only from ads in outlook..thats not even counting if they actually click on an ad..  say they buy office 360 later on cause they had good experience with MS because of Minecraft.. personal data and getting people into your ecosystem is an incredibly huge thing right now..

Google earns on average 4 buck per gmail account per year on displaying ad words.. they have 400 million gmail accounts.. and thats not even counting the data selling stuff or when people actually click on the ads.. you can do the math.. surely there will be overlap in the 50 million but to have the chance to have say like add 20~30 million users for 2.5 billion with the potential to have long term relationship with the user.. good deal

So for the e-mail account you are estimating U$50,00 worth for each account if 100% gone and done a acc (let's pretend none were customer and all would become), do you think each account have that much value even with ad revenue?

On the Office buying because liked Minecraft?? That would be quite the leap, but at least you put some plan on recovering the investiment =]

Ouch.
How did that happen, I thought they amputated their bleeding PC division and claimed that their TV division had turned the corner?

PS3 aftershocks are still a cause of bleeding even years later.

This constant year after year loss. This has to bring moral and overall investment at Sony down in every division. Even profitable divisions have to be affected.

Well yes and no, look at the Viacom deal, that does not just mean or as a deal only applys to just a playstation deal for playstation only, it also deals with mobile also, and network services. But yet much more healthy and much more cash rich companies could not get the deal with Viacom to go through!

There is more to companies in areas across the globe, and not just the way the west centric companies operate and how companies are seen by just the ledgers they each have.

easily within 2 years. Its not about the email account alone but with all the connected stuff around it like skydrive, bing etc. People don't realise how much money a google/ms/apple/facebook makes from your account info.. Dataselling is like 14 cents per email adress per interest.. Say a travel company wants a list from google with people interested in travel to germany. Google can easily cough up 100.000 email adresses.. With people while logged in search for germany or watching some youtube videos.. Want a name with it? You can have it for 8 cents extra.. Want only people between 18 and 30? Pay 4 cents extra.. Only californians? Pay an extra 4 cents.

Well not sure if the math adds up and how much would be new users, but sure enough it is one of the sources to revenue on it... MS won't ever release if the buying was lucrative or not, but certainly they will make a lot of use on the buying to get their money worth. Just let watch for the less obvious use MS will do =]

I'm sorry, I love the PlayStation brand but I'm tired of Sony continuing to be incompetent year in and year out when it comes to getting back in the black. They should have listened to Daniel Loeb months ago. Sony is an arrogant company that refuses to listen to reason. It's simple: stick to PlayStation, music, cameras and film production and stay away from other sectors.

Sure not everthing is clear right now but people are blinded seeing only the game itself while if you step out of that idea of only 1 game (i'm in marketing) you see a larger picture.. Especially with the new ms boss commenting on services being the future.. 2.5 billion is not like pocket money.. But the potential is huge.. Even with the game itself.. If they can like connect it to their azure cloud platform and then connect each other worlds.. That would be like the ultimate game ever.

Now if it was you, would invest those 2.5 in Minecraft or 25 AAA games (could even be financing 2nd party)??? Please answer as gamer and as CEO.

As ceo of sony 25 AAA games cause we are doing shit in all other stuff we try.. As MS ceo: minecraft cause in the end it will make waay more money then 25 AAA games bolstering our entire company and other services we provide.. As a gamer 2.5 billion in B games.. i actually think a lot of AAA games have been dissappointing the last few years.. Sure for those 2.5B can give you a lot of new gears, killzone, cods, gt, forza, AC, battlefield games but do i really want that? Nope i want a Vanquish, Binary Domain, Metal Gear Rising, Nier, Folklore.. More of that less AAA

I have to wonder how much money Sony have to spend on all of the marketting they have been dumping into the PS4. I feel like they are selling well but a lot of that money, and PS+ money, is just going back into feeding the machine and not the coffers. If sales really do follow their flatline trajectories, that's going to be possibly disastrous.
