Okay, had a look-see around 4chan, Reddit, and various gaming forums, and I must say:

This demo got a part of the internet to devolve into a begging game. Meltdown indeed. GG Nintendo.

Even VGChartz was full of those damn begging threads! It was funny as hell!

So much hype for a demo.. Who would've though?

It's an early-access, unlimited-use demo complete with local play! Well, that's as far as my knowledge goes without failing me.

Who wouldn't want to steal himself a competitive advantage by getting used to the rules by playing early, with unlimited tries?

I registered some games this year, + 1000worth of EU Club N starts from the Wii U recently.

Well, it'd be more effective if we would've been able to play with more characters. :P

That's the hook (aside from the promise of additional game modes and online play) designed to get you into the full game! Personally, the overall positive reaction to the demo (and the characters inside) is a sign of success!

I'm disregarding the reactions of the thousands upon thousands of people left on the dark with the demo code.

This is Smash Bros we're talking about, so it shouldn't come off as a surprise.
