Titan Quest Developer Shuts Down

Feb 28, 2008 8:41am CST tags: Iron Lore Entertainment, PC Gaming
A post on the Iron Lore Entertainment website announces that the Titan Quest developer is shutting down, having been unable to secure financing for its next project.

"We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has helped us in the last seven years--our team who moved mountains to create such great games, our publisher THQ who has been a great partner through three product development cycles, and most of all our customers and fans," reads the statement.

"We owe all of the success we've had to you, and our greatest satisfaction has come from creating games that have given enjoyment to the community."

Publishers or developers interested in hiring Iron Lore talent are asked to contact pchieffo@ironlore.com; the same email address can also be used for inquiries on technology licensing.

In addition to Titan Quest and the Immortal Throne expansion pack, Iron Lore recently developed the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War expansion pack Soulstorm.

It's a shame that these really good studios are starting to feel the PC market crash that has been happening for the past 5-ish years.

Its a shame. Titan Quest is a really good game.

It's too bad they went out of business :(

So what genre type of PC games did they develop?

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY

They developed Dawn of War: SoulStorm very recently (is not out yet).

Luckily the support for the game is going to be handled by Relic.

to bad, titan quest was a lot of fun and they also helped with some rts games. wonder what new game they were coming out with that they couldn't get funding for? if it was going to be titan quest 2 that would be a real buzz kill.

I saw that one earlier. That sucks. Titan Quest was (IMO) a better game than Diablo 2. I know it sounds like heresy, but it is one of those cases where the rip off is better than the real deal.

Dammit, Iron Lore knew thier stuff, TQ was fresh and exciting!
And they were also working on the next Raymond Feist game (a MUD I think).

It's still a bit hard to figure this out. I mean Titan Quest was successful (even became a million seller I think), and it was only dissapointed for Iron Lore the sales of TQ's expansion.

Even now TQ is still selling online, like on Steam. Maybe it was because of the Dawn of War expac they finished developing. They probably got almost no money from it, even though it's hasn't been released yet.
