I think it is time MS just treats Japan as as most other countries, just another market to launch in, not treating it like it is the most important thing in the world, and then not putting the games out to show it. |
I kind of think the hullabaloo around Japan this gen, for the Xbox One, was supposed to be more a PR thing than actual sales expectations. I mean, the PS4 basically crashed the Xbox One's biggest stronghold market, and is keeping the U.S. lead dangled over their head, so Microsoft might have been hoping that, with the PS4's less than stellar numbers in Japan, they might at least be able to sell enough to look like 'Well, see, now WE'RE being competitively close in THEIR home country! HA!'
That, of course, backfired spectacularly and kind of hilariously, as Microsoft did make things worse by having that 24 hour streaming before launch, and one of their guys talking about how confident he was marketshare could change hands this gen, etc... kind of 'LOOK AT ME!' immediately followed by falling over facefirst.
