I have absolutely no idea from a first hand experience perspective if that is the case.

But it seems that in the event of Xbox One games being forced to higher resolutions they suffer performance wise.

Diablo 3 seems to have suffered performance wise as a result of being forced to have a higher resolution than necessary.

The way I'm looking at it:
Game is bundled in with Xbox One, either for free or at an additional cost: it moves more Xbox One consoles
Game is bundles in with PlayStation 4, either for free or at an additional cost: it moves more PlayStation 4 consoles.
Game isn't bundled with any console: it moves more PlayStation 4 consoles.
